No gambling here, but we had a thread predicting Mets record. I was pessimistic for the wrong reason, thought the starting pitching wasn't going to be very good. Think I had the Mets at 70-74 wins.

Hmm, tried looking for a Mets prediction thread and couldn't find it. Though I did find the MLB predictions thread and it is funny.
Also looking at the "I will eat my hat if..." thread...let's just say that some people better start looking up some interesting recipes.

Curious, around August or so I linked the prediction thread just for laughs, and highlighted some of the comments without the poster. Cant find it now.

Here's the MLB Predictions thread if anyone wants to go over what they said: mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=228&f=1380&t=8848969&p=1Here's the I will eat my hat if.... stuff, I propose that we demand videos of people eating their hat: mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=228&f=1380&t=8846565I'm looking pretty good: I will eat my hat if...Dickey doesn't win the Cy Young, MVP, and batting title.

Thank you. He was probably my biggest disappointment. I won't say Bay because i expected nothing from him.

"I'll figuratively eat my hat if Ike Davis doesn't have the 2nd highest WAR among NL 1st basemen (after J. votto)."
Close, June onward :)
10 NL first basemen had enough PAs to qualify for the battign title; though that excluded Votto, so lowered to 450 PA since that was kind of an important part of this... Doing so also allowed Todd Frazier and Brandon Belt to slip in, so 13 in total.
Here is the fWAR leaderboard: Joey Votto 3.1 Paul Goldschmidt 3.0 Ike Davis 2.6 Todd Frazier 2.2* Adam LaRoche 2.2 Allen Craig 2.2 Corey Hart 2.2 Garrett Jones 2.1* Brandon Belt 1.7 Freddie Freeman 1.5 Yonder Alonso 1.3 Jordan Pacheco 0.1* Carlos Lee -0.1
* played significant time at other positions in 2012

I wouldn't say that was a bad guess. They reasonably should have won 78 games. That second half was just mega-awful...much more awful than the first half was surprisingly good, and that says a lot.

I guess I should have put a sample size qualifier on my Mike Pelfrey forecast. My hat-eaters: acerimusdux wrote: If Mike Nickeas hits over .230.
If Mike Pelfrey has an ERA lower than 4.50.
If Dillon Gee has a higher ERA than Mike Pelfrey.
If this team wins more than 84 games.

On another board, I predicted 78 wins and 2.4 million in attendance. If they had come closer to the wins, I might have been right on with the attendance, too. Later

RE: Anyone else have the over/under on Mets 73.5 wins?
I said 70-73 wins on that thread linked by Danfran above. At one point this season, I stated that it looked like they would surpass my expectations.. I guess I was kinda right... lol
Other basebal tidbits:
1. Never expected the Marlins to suck so bad - I totally expected them to take the division. 2. Never expected the Orioles/Athletics/Nationals to not suck so bad. 3. Cabrera!

"MLB Prediction: Beltran has a .900 OPS in that hitters park this season " Close: .842 in 619 PAs."Longoria wins AL MVP and has 10 WAR"Too bad he got hurt. 2.3 WAR in 74 games. That pro-rates to about 5 WAR. Still had an .896 OPS. Injury kept him down on defense. Bullish as Hell on his 2013 season.
