Wind 7 MPH In

Mets try to bounce back from lackluster offensive performance to regain their July momentum.   Mets begin the day 6.0 GB in the Wild Card.  Need to do some damage against Peavy.   Ultimate faith right now in deGrom.

Peavy with 12 runs allowed in his last 19 innings pitched...

Get this one. Need some offense.

Pretty much a must win today or they are going to lose 3 of 4.

DeGrom. I'm starting to get that warm fuzzy feeling when he pitches. You know, the feeling that the other teams pitcher better throw a shutout if they want a chance? Yeah, that feeling.

Granderson
Murphy
Wright
Duda
TDA
OSVALDO
#FreeWilmer
deBomb
EY the second

This is a lineup I can get behind. I predict more than 2 hits tonight.

I wonder how EY feels knowing the only time the pitcher bats 8th is when he plays.
Mets trade away reigning CY Young award winner.
Still have the best pitcher in Baseball.

This series worried me. Whether SF or here, I don't like playing the Giants. I don't know why.

Also a shame that Granderson has died at the plate again, he was a beast for about 2 months.

Keep waiting for that DW hot streak, but it never comes.

Forget about hot streak, he doesn't look like a ML hitter half the time. Really starting to think he was a juicer, guy can't hit a 92 MPH fastball!

I don't think he was a juicer, DW's troubles begin the minute he becomes too wary of the inside pitch.. To compensate he stands further away from the plate and can't cover the outside corner... Any pitcher that is on his game that pick up on this can easily strike him out.. Right now he is just a mistake hitter..

I thought this was a good place to mention that another poster in another thread today said that Juan Lagares wasn't an elite CF. And also to point out that that's bulls**t.

Anyone who says that probably has never watched him play... He very rarely makes any mistakes in the field, and he covers as much ground as the best center fielders I have ever seen. He might have something to prove with his hitting, but his defense is definitely elite level.

A little bit of a stretch don't you think? Guy has a down year and he must have been a juicer. rolleyes

good observation I would also add that DW has put on too much muscle, which has caused him to lose bat speed. There is no fluidity in his swing. I recall seeing a picture of him several years ago with huge guns. Perhaps its time to drop him from the 3rd spot.

DeGrom pitching like DeGrom.  Mets hitting like the Mets.

Typical game so far.

The dreaded sig of doom has chosen future hall of famer Jason Heyward as its target.

May the baseball gods have mercy on your soul!

I said that he was a very good defensive CF-er but short of elite. He goes back very well on balls, coming in not so much. He let a hit fall in front of him last night that resulted In a run. It was a play that I have seen made many a time before. When the ball has a lot of hang time he is awesome, when it requires speed and a dive, not as great.

meanwhile he hasn't hit the ball out of the infield. I also said that he should be platooned with MDD (who also makes that catch) and is a better threat against right handed pitching
