Details so far, just heard from Jon Heyman:

Austin Jackson and Drew Smyly will go to the Mariners, with Nick Franklin heading to Tampa.

Has to be more than just Franklin to Tampa, no?

Austin Jackson had gone out into the field for the seventh inning, and was called back in and told about the trade.

That seems like a very small return for Tampa.

Now they show Drew Smyly to TB as well. A serviceable SP, but him and Franklin still seems like a small return.

Got to be another shoe to drop on that deal. If they turned down Addison Russel and wind up with Drew Smyly and Franklin, Tampa really has lost their touch.

Talk of Taijuan Walker involved, as well. Nothing confirmed yet.

I hope he does go to the AL East.  We owe him one
Mets trade away reigning CY Young award winner.
Still have the best pitcher in Baseball.

Makes no sense for Walker to go if all Seattle is getting is Jackson.

Otoh Jackson for Franklin is a real nice deal for The Mariners.

Heyman just said the only player from Seattle involved is Franklin.

Then I am guessing Walker is not involved. There was some talk about it, but nothing confirmed. We'll know for sure when the full trade is out.

Seems like it's:

- Tigers get LHP David Price.
- Mariners get OF Austin Jackson.
- Rays get LHP Drew Smyly, IF Nick Franklin and minor-league SS Willy Adames.

Ummm...what a weird trade for the Rays...

The equivalent from the Mets would be deGrom Flores & Rosario? Maybe I'm just not that high Smyly since he's been in the majors for a few years and hasn't real established himself yet.

And we somehow still have Bartolo Colon, what does that tell you about his contract banghead

Nice move by Detroit. Their rotation is now more than good enough to get to the World Series. Oakland is the one that stands in their way. I don't see another team matching that rotation, especially if Verlander somehow becomes somewhat serviceable (just imagine if Verlander was still Verlander, their pitching would be lethal).
