Re: Wright scratched....heading to NY for MRI

I fully expect it to keep him out the rest of the season.  At which point, we'll call up Flores, only to watch him fail in his first 4 at bats, so Eric Campbell takes over and hits .230 while Flores rots on the bench.

Sorry...I'm bitter

The dreaded sig of doom has chosen future hall of famer Jason Heyward as its target.

May the baseball gods have mercy on your soul!

This could send this team into a death spiral if he is out for 6 weeks or more.  disbelief

Tonights Lineup is uhhh...interesting.   Granderson leading off, Tejada in the 2 hole and Lagares batting 7th.

I think the best player leaving a road trip and coming home for an MRI is genuine reason for concern.  Assuredly, they have MRI machines in PItt, so I would guess this could be a problem.

Really hope this is something minor, but it certainly explains his struggles.

Re: Wright scratched....heading to NY for MRI

Wright told reporters he injured his shoulder a few weeks ago sliding headfirst. He hurt it again twice during Thursday’s game....Wright had been hitting .400 with eight RBI in his last nine games, during which the Mets were 5-4.

To be fair, the Mets haven't had any more or less injuries than other teams; this has been an injury plagued season all over baseball. The complete lack of offensive talent (Thank you Sandy) makes losing this guy a death blow though. They are a terrible offensive team WITH Wright.

Correct, if he misses a extensive period of time we will be sellers come July 31.

I don't think we will. See, other than Colon, the guys here that they could sell, they need for the future. A Niese would be in great demand but they cant trade him for prospects. I know some people are ok with 5 righties in the rotation but I am not one of those people. I don't think they will trade Murphy either unless they get a bat. Could they package a Gee+ Murphy for a big bat? Sure, but those types of trades are difficult to build.

I think they have to do something. Can the Wilpons endure another lost season and just stand pat. It would be a disastrous August and September.

Well my point is they can do something-spend money in the offseason. I know people disagree with me here, but how can you trade good players (Niese, Gee, Murphy) on a bad team? Won't they be worse? They need to keep the guys they have and stop penny pinching. Colon needs to go to free up a rotation spot, but other than that I'm not trading a starter.

Isn't there ANY communication in this organization? Doesn't the major league team read the reports submitted my their minor league managers? Don't the read the stats?
Over the years, Lagares has hit about 50 points HIGHER when batting in the top half of the order.
The adage says that the whole is better than the sum of its parts. Well, the sum of the organization seems to be dumber than any one individual, too,

Re: Wright scratched....heading to NY for MRI

Good grief.....kinda over this.  Wright gets hurt every year and misses extended time.  I know this is the non throwing shoulder.....but still.....

If we are still in rebuilding mode, I wouldn't be against a Wright trade at this point.

Wright is an amazing ambassador for the Mets and for all of MLB.
He is a great ball player.
He has a great attitude.
Plays hard.

But.....without good hitters around him, he can't carry the team.....especially this team.
He was great with Beltran, Delgado offering protection.

If the team isn't ready to invest in top talent to provide this protection, he will never be the game changer he used to be.
And, now he's in his 30's.  Prime years have been wasted.

This isn't a knock on David.  Think he's great.  But, he deserves better.  And, this team seems to be unwilling to spend on offense.....and nothing that amazing coming up in the minors for a while.

Just seems like a huge waste of $ on a guy who isn't a top 5 player.
He could be with said protection.
But, without that help, he's a top 25 player.....maybe.

If you're gonna rebuild.....rebuild!  So tired of the false hope and promises.

I wonder how long did it take Terry to make the lineup?

It's pretty much standard practice to have MRIs back in the home city because that's where the team doctors are. But, the fact that he is having an MRI at all is of course a concern.

Umm.....maybe I missed something but he's in the dugout. Did he go and come back? Btw....awesome example to set if he made that effort...that's what the kids need to see. Many would've taken the free pass.

Re: Wright scratched....heading to NY for MRI

He is getting the MRI tomorrow (technically later today since it's now Saturday). He was scratched fairly close to the start of the game so he probably figured he'd hang around and watch it. He probably either flew out right after the game or will in the morning.

You need to work on your bedside manner. But yeah. I agree.
