I don't know if it's going to correlate into runs, but I like the idea of starting a late inning with EY, CG and Murph.

I can't believe TC is actually going think outside the box a little with this lineup.

We now have to resort to tricks in order to score runs, this smacks of being desperate IMO.

Why wouldn't Degrom bat ahead of EYJ, he's a better hitter. Honestly though, a double lead off man isn't a bad concept for a team that lacks an ideal lead off man
Mets trade away reigning CY Young award winner.
Still have the best pitcher in Baseball.

On another note, it's kind of depressing that we have a guy signed off the scrap heap batting cleanup.

Probably the player I'm rooting for the most.  If we can trade Abreu for a reliever that someday throws a dozen good innings for us then he was a great signing.

Our leadoff hitter for much of last year was Marlon Byrd, so it's become kind of a Mets tradition. wink

Terry's tinkering with the lineup makes Bobby V's lineups look like an anchor of stability.

I should have decided to go today.   I would have loved to watch the pitcher bat 8th.

The dreaded sig of doom has chosen future hall of famer Jason Heyward as its target.

May the baseball gods have mercy on your soul!

I don't see how this is a trick.
  1. Batting the pitcher 8th is supposedly optimal.
  2. Eric Young is a poor hitter but great baserunner, so he makes perfect sense hitting just before the top of the order, but after everyone else has had a chance to hit.
  3. TC talked about doing this way back in Spring Training.

My only question is why he didn't put out a lineup like this sooner. Also, deGrom could rightfully bat in the top two-thirds of the lineup with this group.

The only two problems I have with the lineup are Abreu batting cleanup, and no Wilmer.  This kid needs to play everyday somewhere.

Question: Which two baseball teams are an Italian's favorite?

Answer:  The A's and O's

Not sure who'd be better than Abreu. Murphy? I wouldn't mind sliding Murph to #3, Wright to #4, and slotting Wilmer in at #2. I agree the kid's gotta play, if not here then in Vegas (or for another team).

Have the Mets ever done this before? (Bat the pitcher not 9th)

Of course, TC's explanation of why he did it today makes little sense: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-yo...y-making-lineup

Kevin Burkhardt calling the games in St Louis.  I wonder if this is the brass way of trying to keep Burkhardt on the Mets after this season
