It's a shame we don't even get a day game at Wrigley Field on a getaway day. I suspect Murphy and Duda will sit today, though.

......and for the "BIG STORY" to be how 3 guys with lowercase d's to start their last name are in the lineup at the same time?

- d'Arnaud
- deGrom
- den Dekker

.................can't let the Cubs sweep you.

this is where blowing games you should win hurts........Murphy's Law says this is where deGrom has a stinker. This should be the Cubs trying to salvage a game. This is where the bumbling of Collins really hurts - as games they should win turn into losses and games they don't deserve to win turn those losses into losing streaks.

I thought Murphy's law said, "Run to the next base until they throw you out."

It is very strange that there are 3 guys on this team with lower case d's to start their last names. Very.

Its a money saving tactic.  Apparently, the uniform makers are paid more for capital letters than lower case letters. biggrin

Rarer than you'd even think.

best I can tell no team has ever had more than two players whose last name starts with a lower case letter [any letter] in the same season. Teams with 2x:
2013 Mets
2012 Pirates
1989 Royals
1988 Royals

Three of such players for the whole league was actually the MLB record!
2013 2x
2012 2x
2006 2x
*1991 3x
1989 2x
*1988 3x
1975 2x
1974 2x

Those all ignored that the players might not have been on the roster at the same time or played in the same game.

den Dekkar and d'Arnaud played together in 17 games last year.

Here is the rest of MLB history in terms of two such animals playing in the same game for the same team at the same time:

Chase d'Arnaud and Rick van den Hurk did play in the same game together on 9/10/12 -- for all of five batters [as SS and RP]. Luis de los Santos and Jose de Jesus both started the game on 10/1/89 together [four full innings]

Must have been a one-time click, where the whole article showed.  I'm glad it didn't work for you, though - Minkus.  pirate - it was especially riveting material.

We're starting the A Lineup today

Young CF
Granderson  RF
Wright  3B
Campbell  1B
Brown  LF
Flores  2B
Tejada  SS
d'Arnaud  C
DeGrom  P

Yes that's right...Chris Young and his .190 average bats leadoff.

The dreaded sig of doom has chosen future hall of famer Jason Heyward as its target.

May the baseball gods have mercy on your soul!

I'm okay with it. CY will have a big night mark my words. Though I would have sat Wright instead of Murph.

Edit: NVMD we are facing a lefty.

CY had a nice game to start this rod trip. Maybe he produces a similar performance tonight as the Mets bid adeiu to the friendly confines. Lord knows someone needs to step up to the plate and take some hacks.

Well at least we know if they have a big offensive night and he bats 5 times, he should be on base once. rolleyes
