Just as we wore our construction cone orange alternates last night, the visitors will be going with theirs this afternoon --- so, all bets are off:

Another product of Wren's horrible drafting.

Yeah, I hope this is a good matchup for us. We didnt do all that well against him last time, but I think Turner, Satin and a better hitting Lagares will help.

RE: Mets vs Braves - GDT 7/25

Looking at our lineup, there are just so many positions I'd hope to have a better handle on at this stage of the game --- and am praying that either:

a) Some of these guys are moved, prior to the deadline (package-type headlined by Marlon Byrd for solid return, if not - then so be it); or
b) Cast-off over the winter, due to the determinations that are being made in the 2nd half.

And the only real way to do that is by getting playing time for - not only Ike Davis (ugh - the way he's going in the power department - his only real "asset" at the plate, it seems like he's a cinch be non-tendered in the offseason), but Ruben Tejada and Lucas Duda - when they come back.

Guys like Justin Turner, Omar Quintanilla, Josh Satin, etc. - are at best, bench-players, only starting because we're in the situation we're in......so to that point: duke it out to see who stays beyond this year.

My other hope is for Daniel Murphy to get white-hot over the next week, and be dealt......so that Eric Young can get more time at 2B, to see how he'd fare over a proloned period. His speed and athleticism is something Murphy simply doesn't have -- no matter how many people think he's a great guy/hard worker. Given the choice: I'd likely take Eric Young as a spot-starting outfielder/2B option - over Murph starting on a nightly basis.

The problem with this is: I don't see anyone rushing to the forefront to give Alderson very much -- and the Mets will be looking to put forth a respectable showing the rest of the way, given the way these teams have looked in the 2nd half the past few years.

The way Lagares has been going, I'd let him take the ball and run with it the rest of the way - barring a complete and total no-show slump. Nieuwenhuis has played a little bit better (but really - that 4 hit game vs. the Brewers is awhile ago already - this month has flown), but I don't see him as a starting outfielder -- let alone a 4th or 5th outfielder the way he still takes an AB.

Don't want to lose 3 of 4 to these guys.
Wheeler has to step up.

It's going to be a long day if Wheeler doesnt get some of these strikes. The zone is small. Need the Braves to go back to their free swinging ways.

I'm just paying attention on Gameday...Gameday paused for a while and then said "Ethan Getty strikes out swinging. Ethan Gettyadvances to 1st, on a throwing error by catcher John Buck. Wild pitch by pitcher Zack Wheeler. Johansen scores. Freddie Freemon to 3rd. Two out."

So I think that no matter what happened, it was Mets shenanigans.

Wheeler is already at 31 pitches through the first inning.

Ugh. 31 pitch first inning. Let's hope we score 10 runs today. We have 3 games in 36 hours. Could really use a blow out.
