Ronny Cedeno released

Ronny Cedeno released

After the nice job he did with the Mets last year, should the Mets be interested.  With Turner hurt and Hicks and Bixler being the other two right-handed middle infielder candidates for the bench, I think Cedeno could be an upgrade.

RE: Ronny Cedeno released

Doubt the Mets would go there, even though I had no problem whatsoever with what Cedeno did for them last season.

He's better than both of the guys they brought in afterward, as middle infield candidates (meaning Hicks and Bixler).  Remember they still have Quintanilla, as well - even though I'd still prefer Cedeno as a RHH.

This is very interesting to me, considering the Cards:

- signed him to a $1.15MM contract not even 2 full months ago (guess they just owe him 45 Days Severance now); and
- will be without Furcal for the foreseeable future (all of 2013, anyway)

Think he'll be a bargain utility guy for a team looking to compete -- but that the Mets have too many clusters of crap to even look back in his direction again.

RE: Turner - everything I'd read said his ankle should be fine.  Not that I prefer him anywhere on the diamond, but has there been an update citing that he'd be out for any length of time?

He is a human so he can contribute to the human possibility of the Mets winning the Wild Card!

ESPN

Justin Turner said the right ankle he sprained on Saturday is virtually full healed, but he will not be making the trip to Kissimmee on Wednesday night to face the Houston Astros.

"Full activity -- except for going on the trip," Turner said.

Thanks for the update -- so nothing different, really.

Additionally:

Justin Turner (ankle) said he will take swings and field a bit today. #Mets
