World Baseball Classic

World Baseball Classic

I know some are opposed, but I love the WBC.  Part of me prefers it over all other formats (regular season, playoffs, college WS, etc.).

The Team USA roster is supposed to be released this Thursday.  According to Heyman, Dickey will be a member of the rotation.

I really enjoy watching it as well.  For me, its competitive baseball a month earlier then normal.

The dreaded sig of doom has chosen future hall of famer Jason Heyward as its target.

May the baseball gods have mercy on your soul!

I like it as well, as long as the pitchers are used carefully.

I also love it.  I went to a game in Orlando between the DR and Venezuela that was awesome.

Most seem to hate it and will invariably complain when any of the participants get hurt during the season.

I've never been a fan, but I always keep an eye on the scores and standings.  US team should be stacked:  Wright, Dickey, Braun, Kimbrel, Stanton.

I would prefer if our pitchers weren't used at all.  Position players, sure, why not.
Mets trade away reigning CY Young award winner.
Still have the best pitcher in Baseball.

I dig it and have tickets out here in Cali for the finals. Hoping Team USA (with DWright and Dickey) is still in it at that point!

A lot of people feel angst about pitchers throwing before February but I guess MLB feels it's worth the risk to advance the sport.

To be honest the WBC has never interested me in the least.  I really need to give it a fair shake this year.  I could use some baseball in my life...

I get pumped up for it, but then after a game or two I'm ready for MLB. I'll try again this year and hope it catches on eventually. IMO it won't be truly great until winning it really means something. I think we can get there eventually.

It's great until your player gets hurt.

I suppose its baseball's answer for the Hockey World Cup.......I have a hard time getting stoked for it.....but it is a way to kind of peruse other nations for talent.   Naturally I hope the U.S. of A. takes the crown.

It's certainly not something that has any bearing on who the best baseball country is given the format, but I still find it very enjoyable to watch, and am very much looking forward to it.

Eagles/Indiana/Mets/Villanova: it's a long story

The bottom line with the WBC is that on a cold crappy day in Mid March, you will have the option of watching baseball games filled with the best players who are playing with intensity and trying their hardest.   Sounds good to me.

Here was Team Japan's reaction after winning the last one.   The players care.  This isnt the ASG.

I think the Nats and Braves should make up the entire pitching staff.biggrin
