RE: New BP Caps
I thought our unis last year were the best we've ever had--seems like we're going back down hill.

Orange brims tend to do that, IMHO.

Pretty awful looking. Wouldn't buy it, wouldn't wear it.

RE: New BP Caps
They are hideous and look to be designed by a ten year old. No thanks.

Re: New BP Caps
count me in for one who likes it. i may actually buy it. although i prefered the orginal BP hats - the ones that were fitted but just mesh. I like that style for my big head vs these one-size-fits-all jobbies. plus i like MR Met. but it could also be because i have a 2.5 year old boy who loves Mr. Met....

RE: New BP Caps
Stuff like this shouldn't be that hard. It's come to the point where I expected it already w/ whoever is in charge of Mets gear...

RE: New BP Caps
Atlanta's logo is really something. The Mets hat is pretty blah, though Mr. Met is like the one good thing about the franchise.

I havent worn a hat since little league but if the brim were blue, it wouldnt be bad.

RE: New BP Caps
It's honestly not that bad, though I'm not enthused. Every few years the entire league is expected to come up with new BP caps, and if you look at the list it seems like the Mets are doing what just about everyone else is, with the crown and brim being contrasting colors, and utilizing a secondary logo.
I'm not particularly happy about the hat they're apparently going to use whenever they play in the solid blue jerseys this year, the one with the white dropshadow on the NY and the orange brim: feels to me like it defeats the purpose of the solid blues to not just use the classic all-blue cap.

RE: New BP Caps
The hat in a vaccum is fine. More of Mr. Met is generally a good thing, but it looks more in place on the head of a 12 year old than on a major league field.

......and I readily admit to the fact that this is merely a Batting Practice hat. However, they've worked that orange brim into one of their game-worn alternates this year.
Just a personal preference. I'm not a fan of the orange brim. When you have it as a secondary color, it's cool -- when it starts to take over (see Syracuse's....I mean, the Knicks' uniforms on Christmas) - it can become overwhelming.

RE: New BP Caps
Yeah orange shouldn't be a dominant sports uni color. Never. Love the touch of it in the Mets normal color scheme. Leave it at that. When I was a kid playing farm league ball and all the teams were named and outfitted after colors there was no orange. There was a friggin yellow team even. No orange.

So comfortable, and just like the game fitteds, but they were mesh and had the black mets circular logo on the side. I think those were out by 2001 or 2002, right? I remember having one and wearing it a TON back in the day. Probably 99' or 2000.

RE: New BP Caps
These are ugly IMO... wouldn't be caught dead wearing one. But, hey it is only a stupid BP cap. the more laughable aspect is apparently there is to be another cap unveiled that will be worn during post-game interviews lol
