3 years/30 million to have the reigning Cy Young. Mets should be jumping all over it. Then you have potential Santana and Bay money to play with in 2014 for FA's, trades...

Yeah, I like the idea of bringing back the exact same team from last year and building for the short-term too. It's worked great so far.

omnimetfan wrote: Me, too. Especially with the media's reaction criticizing TOR for making the deal. Maybe they back out because they fear the bad PR. Who do you think they are? The Mets? And I'm also getting really tired of the leakiness of the Mets organization. I was really disgusted by the hit pieces on Dickey the last few days. The only solace I can take is that this nonsense predates Sandy, so I'm hoping it's not his people, but just the usual serpent-tongued Wilpon courtiers. I can't wait to see David Wright's memoirs when he retires. Would love to see how he really feels about the way ownership treats players.

I would like to know who the minor leaguer going to the BJ's is. Very good return for RAD.

I hope they announce who the players are soon. I would think the extension happens fast. It was all over the newspapers what Dickey wanted. The Jays can read, so it should not be a surprise to them.

Mets to trade R.A. Dickey to the Blue Jays December 16th, 2012 1:39 pm The Mets and Blue Jays have agreed in principle to a trade which will send R.A. Dickey to Toronto, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
Rosenthal says Dickey and the Blue Jays have until Tuesday at 2:00 pm ET to agree to a contract extension - Dickey is reportedly open to a contract extension with the Blue Jays. Multiple reports indicate the Mets will sendJosh Thole and a Minor Leaguer to Toronto in exchange for four players: top Blue Jays prospect C Travis d’Arnaud, C John Buck, RHP Noah Syndergaard (who is considered Toronto’s third best prospect), and another minor leaguer. The Blue Jays could reportedly add cash to the deal or another prospect to help offset Buck’s $6 million salary for 2013.

Dickey is 38 and his career earnings from baseball may be less than what the Mets paid Oliver Perez last year. I expect him to squeeze every last dollar from Toronto now. Nevertheless, this isn't exactly a Johan Santana level contract either, so this should hopefully resolve sooner rather than later...

Why would he take the risk of blowing this trade and realy pisses off the Mets? If that will happen no way he will get an extention with the Mets. And he needs to pray he has a season like he had last year. Otherwise he will not get his contract he wanted in the first place $26/2.

Dear Your Ever Knuckleness Dickey
we your ever faithful servants do humbly ask that you sign this contract extension and go bless the people of Canada with your awesomeness, so we can get back a truly awesome catcher, who might be able to actually bat more than his weight, and a pitcher, who while never reaching your awesome power, could certainly be very awesome.
Praise be to your awesome fingernails

D'Arnaud and Syndergaard would be an great return for Dickey. Hard to see the Mets getting a better player than D'Arnaud in another deal.
