Busting it out, as per DocK's request in the sticky.

Trout, Pujols, and Hamilton in the same lineup.....with other boppers like Trumbo in tow?

Sick.

Bourjos is the obvious odd man out..........he could bring them back value. Question really becomes what elwe could the Mets get with him?

I'm not even a huge Bourjos fan, but we now have an actual legitimate scenario where a team could make a deal for R.A. Dickey - while still tapping into a strength from their side.

The idea that Met fans are poo-pooing Trumbo's worth, thinking the Angels would just fork him over in a 2-for-1 straight up for Dickey.....kinda silly, if you ask me.

dealing both...or even Trumbo makes little sense.........they have useful depth........Bourjos just doesn't fit now.

Right, and that becomes part of your "realistic return" - IMHO.

Trumbo doesn't have to go anywhere.  The fact that everyone's pointing out the flaws in his game doesn't negate the fact that he'd be the only Met outfielder approaching 30 HR's (and the last since Beltran in 2007, which is absolutely pathetic).

ANA has to know that with both Pujols and Hamilton breaking down in recent years, they are goiong to have to tap their bench/depth.......and Trumbo's power becomes necessary. That and the fact he has positional flexibility makes him that much more valuable to ANA....never mind the low cost. Bourjos is simply a defensive replacement right now or back in AAA. This is where you deal from strength and bolster the rotation.

I wonder how much value Bourjas has right now.

this is also where ANA gets more bang for the buck in RA............$5 million in 2013 for the reigning Cy Young winner and a reasonable mark up from there on an extension. If they go out in the market now, they'll get somebody at a comparable cost pitching at a lower productivity level. This makes too much sense not to do.

I'm just happy that Hamilton didn't wind up at Citizen's Bank Park.

Dickey for a team's current top two prospects + the team's first draft pick for the next 100 years.

Good info.  Feel free to bust it out in a new thread next time you come across one.

Trout
Kendrick
Pujols
Hamilton
Trumbo
Morales
Aybar
Callaspo
Ianneta

That's basically an average or above average or well above average bat at every position in the lineup.

That's basically a word series appearance within the next few years

The truth of the matter is that you always know the right thing to do. The hard part is doing it.

That changes in games in which Vernon Wells starts ... wow, the Angels are playing for keeps. I hope Hamilton stays on the wagon because $125 million can buy a lot of H.

I'm not crazy about Bourjos; he pretty much disproves the saying "speed never slumps"

How in the world will the Astros compete in this division? Can you imagine how many runs this lineup will put up at Minute Maid Park?

Frightening offensive team, but we've seen that before. Not sure the pitching is WS caliber.

Bourjos isn't going to get them Dickey and maybe nothing meaningful. maybe they take a shot with Nolasco for Bourjos. Doubt they'll use up any top prospects now tho. teams like the Angels usually spend their prospects at the deadline. During the winter they can just sign another pitcher like EdJax or Marcum or Lohse.

and Hamilton to LAA wasn't exactly the best case scenario for our Rangers plans I guess. It's prob less likely they'll deal Martin now.

No, the likelihood of the Rangers including Martin in a trade for Dickey was indeed predicated on them re-signing Hamilton.
