For what it is and all that has been stated about Chandler and speed... it doesn't seem like the freshman can stake that claim, they had no answer for Desert Ridge #31 who ran for a 40+ yard TD on his first touch and an almost 60 yard TD on his second touch. He later ran a 80 yarder but was called back for a "hold". Good game as Chandler was driving with just under 2 minutes to go and look like they could score when #31sealed the game with an interception with 1:30 to go in the 4th quarter. DR took a knee to run out the clock as Chandler had already used up their timeouts.
Way to go, way to finish out the season with a win.
DR also played Brophy "A" team tough to a 14-6 loss which was Brophy's closes game all year from what I can tell by the scores.
Yeah that is true and we can what if till the cows come home. Brophy still beat teams after the 6 freshman were moved up, so I still agree they are one of the top teams but as someone else said there is no way to tell who is the best by record as there are a few teams who finished undefeated. You could compare schedules and similar opponents but that still is not a real indicator of who would beat who in a playoff game. Football is a funny sport some how you have to play the game to see who wins.
So moving the freshman back down was to secure an undefeated season?
Also, the statement..."DR also played Brophy "A" team tough to a 14-6 loss which was Brophy's closes game all year from what I can tell by the scores." was to really indicate that at 4-5 DR was better than there record reflects. With that stated it is what it is and the record is in the books.
So, I after my son's first year of high school football I realize that there are still plenty of politics and adversities. I thought some of that would go away after youth football entering high school but we choose to look at the challenges as opportunities to overcome. All in all, it was a good experience, some highs and some lows. The best part about it is my son has a bunch of new friends, including some former youth football opponents.
To all of AZ's freshman football players I would say congrats on making it through the season. Now, there is some work to do in the off season, get bigger, get stronger and get faster...a lot of hard work but it will pay off in the end. You get out of it what you put into it. Good luck.
