Coaching Positions

Coaching Positions

The end of the regular season is upon us....

Without attacking anyone, what positions do you think will be up for grabs this coming off season due to retirement, performance, etc.?

What coaches will be looking for jobs this year? Are there any assistants looking to move on, or start their own programs?

There has been talk about McClintock opening up.

Also... I'm not fully informed but I thought the coach at Corona was retiring due to age.  Could be totally wrong though.

RE: Coaching Positions

I agree with the last post. Rattay is not going anywhere... Chavez is going to keep going forward with or without the playoffs this season. Interesting about Corona, their coach has been there a very long time and is a great man. McClintock? Didn't they just hire a new coach??? What's happening there? La Joya makes sense, the coach there said in the papers that he was a one year coach there.

McClintock has the rumor mill that the coach is going to be let go after this year.

Just based off of the names of jobs here, it could be a busy off season for schools and coaches making moves. Good luck to those who do.

Desert Edge (4A II)

They are claiming to have the best record in school history, but two of their wins came to teams who haven't won a game, they beat Verrado and Youngker who each had one win, and they beat a CHARTER school.  They aren't any better than when Felker was there, at least he played a quality schedule.

Re: Coaching Positions

But let me ask you this about Desert Edge. You have to start somewhere and the confidence level of these kids is going to be up as they see the success of a better record. Then with each year you can add tougher teams.

It is not worth anything if you schedule a team that has struggled with success with teams they will get beaten badly each week.

There has to be a starting point. There is actually some finesse in accomplishing this and remember they are not a Mt. Pointe type team either.

That's true they aren't a powerhouse and never will be, this new coach hasn't been any better then Felker was. If their region wasn't SO bad they wouldn't even be where they are at now.

Maybe Wickenburg will be looking for a new head coach soon.

Did you see the post by Obert today? (yah, I know... scary).

Re: Coaching Positions

Ive also heard rumors about coach Ventura at Corona. One could only wonder if that job will be filled by one of the Red Mtn staff.  About 3 of their assistants could be candidates.

RE: Coaching Positions

This guy was caught in a car with a high school girl - went on a high speed chase with police and in the end was arrested.

This was a huge story - Illinois I believe. I do know that he was charged with multiple felonies - and was convicted of none of them.

This will be interesting. This guy coached at a couple of schools in the valley I believe - Hamilton and somewhere else.

What's going on with Foothills? Their coach has only been there for a couple years and they're pretty good.
