Are regular season schedules already finalized for 2013?

Re: Game Schedules?

No.  The AIA is planning to release the schedules for the section games only this Thursday (to the schools).  Teams then have until March 14 to select their freedom, or non-section games.  Any teams that still have vacancies will have them filled by AIA committees later in March.  Final schedules will be made public (to the schools) on April 19.  You will see some of them trickling out at that time.  For some idiot reason, the AIA doesn't release them to the general public (us) until July 3.

I asked because two Texas powers have a pre-season opening.

RE: Game Schedules?

Sorry for mentioning a potential OOS game for an AZ team. Lets continue the "so and so gets an offer" threads. Idk why y'all are so sensitive about information, I guess it's a bad thing someone from another state has an interest in AZ hsfb? I just thought it would be a cool experience for one of the powers from the valley of the sun to come play in a multi-million dollar hs stadium in front of 10k fans and see where they stack up. I suppose I'll just lurk this off-season actual conversation is frowned upon.

Don't sweat it.  There's message board Nazis no matter what site you post on.

Thx 21:  I for one appreciate that you posted that.  I'd be interested to see/hear about any AzHS football teams play or at least inquire about playing in Tx.  In fact, I'm good with posters from Nevada, Colorado, Cali, etc.  IMO, the more national exposure our kids have, the better for everyone.

RE: Game Schedules?

My point exactly az team playing in the most football crazed state would be good press just like when Hamilton went to Ohio.

Re: Game Schedules?

Actually Hamilton was trying to get a game with Katy, TX for next season. It didn't happen. I have no problem with talking about other states. What I have a problem with is the same guy always spouting off about why AZ won't come to the great state of Texas and play a real team attitude this guy has had on multiple occasions.  I don't see any Texas teams running over here to play us?

Lets see, Hamilton went to Ohio, Florida, Nevada, California, even Ireland. How come no one comes here to play them? Hummmm Carry on. And yes, look at my screen name. I do have some affiliation with the great state of Texas.

Re: Game Schedules?

My understanding as to why AZ schools will not play at TX schools is because TX uses the NCAA rulebook instead of the National Federation of State High Schools rules.  Why is this important...In Texas you can cut block anyone anywhere in the field.  AZ schools players wouldn't know how to protect themselves against that technique as it is not taught in HS here in AZ.   Now if Texas schools travelled to AZ and played under the National Federation of State High Schools, I'm sure Hamilton or other school would be more than happy to play them.

RE: Game Schedules?

I don't recall ever slamming an AZ team for not traveling to TX to play? I think it would be a better business decision for both schools to play here due to ticket sales (each team splits ticket revenue).

For future reference to schedule a Tx team for an OOS game it usually has to be a 2 yr deal. Districts are re-drawn down here every two years, so teams try and sign home and home series so they don't end up like the two teams mentioned in this thread looking for a game. Which is also why Katy wasn't available.

I know it's hard for some but I'm really not a kool-aid drinker, great players and great teams can come from anywhere. Do I believe as a total package TXHS football is the best? Yes, but that certainly doesn't mean I'm implying other places are garbage. The only thing I'm saying is I wish PHX would pick it up a tad, it's the 6th most populous city in the country there is no reason why it shouldn't be a power state for HSFB. That transfer crap has really got to get under control out there, it's watering down the quality of ball and it's only good for the select few.

And last but not least for my own selfish reasons I would like to see how AZ teams would do down here. I lived in PHX, albeit for a short time I met a lot of great guys. Some are coaches there now and we still talk.

Tex,
I heard that Norris Vaughan (Mountain Pointe HS) is looking for teams to play. Many AZ teams have declined to play them. They've been able to find a Cali team and will also be playing Bishop Gorman (NV). Not sure if he is still looking, but you may want to give him a call.

RE: Game Schedules?

On the link provided it had the following--- The promoter said he would give any traveling team $5,000 to help with travel, and provide all the transportation and rooming for each team.
My guess is $5k isn't a whole lot of money to purchase round trip tickets to TX for a team of 70-80 people counting players and coaches?  Comes out to like $65/person.  That won't cover plane fare.  Now everyone has to increase their fundraising (which every player, coach, parent hates! LOL) on top of what they normally are required to do each year.
If Tx wants folks to come play and they can afford million dollar stadiums and 10k fans then they should be able to provide more travelling money for the outa state team?

Whiz, now lets say you have a roster of 100 and 25 cheerleaders and a coaching staff of 15+ and then the trainers and admin that has to go 5000.00 doesn't pay for the toilet paper. TX you can continue to say whatever you want. But saying "I never say anything bad about AZHS Football" then in the same sentence say they need to "Pick it up a tad" that is being arrogant period. Why should anyone in AZ care what a person in TX wants their state to do?

By this logic the state of New York should be a huge "power state" based on New York City being the largest city in the nation.  Why don't you venture over to New York's Scout board and tell them they need to "pick it up a tad"?

(Not for nothing per Scout the Phoenix metro area produced 32 of the state's 36 FBS commits [that's guy's committing straight out of high school-Maxpreps tally includes some post-grad/juco guys but not others], thus I think it's pretty safe to say that it's not Phoenix holding back the state of Arizona from being a high school football "power state".)

Out of curiousity, what high school in Texas did you attend?

RE: Game Schedules?

Y'all are a defensive bunch I see. Like I said I'm not going to post anymore topics, I confused this place for a message board that discusses high school football with an emphasis on the state of AZ. No by my logic NYC is an awful comparison they don't care about HSFB as much up there. AZ seems to want to get to an elite level, right?

I thought this would be a great opportunity for a team to try and fill.

I went to Grapevine High School 03-07, my school is nothing special won a couple of state title's in the 90's made playoffs twice when I was there. Fun fact 2 alumni played for the Cardinals (Nick Lecky, Richard Bartel)

I don't consider the emphasis Texas puts on high school football to be something to aspire to but rather a cautionary tale of what not to do.  As much as I love sports in general and football specifically I think the 10,000-seat stadiums and other things symptomatic of their emphasis on high school sports is saddening.

I asked where you went to school as years ago I'd occasionally post on a national board through texashsfootball.com and remembered a particularly obnoxious poster who had migrated from the east valley to Grapevine and would spout-off about how inferior Arizona football was to the brand in Texas.  Glad to see that maturity has reigned-in your abbrasiveness, though apparently it hasn't done much to inspire additional insights on the subject.

RE: Game Schedules?

Interesting, I haven't posted on there in years at least since I was a teenager. I'm sorry we don't all live by the purity of the game in the valley where one can just transfer to where ever they want and publics recruit.

Anyways if there are any coaches on here there ya go. I'm really not interested in a pissing match.
