I heard it was going to be Bowick as well. Does anyone know when they will make it official? (with whoever they decide)

Not sure about the Bowick hire. If it is true, good luck to North Canyon. That program may never be competitive again.

I wonder how close the district came to his PUHSD salary? Did he get head track also?

Re: North Canyon

If it is true that Bowick got the job it is a terrible hire for N.C..  The guy won games his first year at Maryvale with a talented team he inherited but didn't do anything but lose after that.  Maryvale had a sharp decline during his tenure. eek1

SPED Teacher, and I am sure that was an easier fill than say PE. Good luck Bowick.

Bowick was 1-20 his last 2 years at Maryvale south is 0-20 and TGH is 2-18 a combined total of 3-58 in the past 2 years. How is it possible they still have jobs and can still get hired at other schools over other coaches with better records and or resumes?

Don't compare Maryvale and TGB. The difference between those two programs last year was night and day. TGB coach is doing a great job getting the most out of the kids he has.

Seems like a very questionable hire. 1-19 in 2 years and you get another Head job right away? You would have thought he would have to go be an assistant again until he got another chance. Makes me think a lot of successful assistants in the PV district are opting not to go after head coaching jobs? Is it a better deal being an assistant at a top program. Surprise nobody from the PV staff went after the NC job.

RE: North Canyon

It's not so much that the existing assistant coaches in the PV dist. are passing on head coaching positions, they are passing the North Canyon job specifically.  I can't think of many assistants within the PV district programs that could handle or would want to handle the mess that the Rattlers program has become.  And what assistants could be head coaches?  None of North Canyons former staff; maybe 1 at Horizon; 1 at Paradise Valley; maybe 2 from Pinnacle; none from Shadow Mountain.  But again who wants to walk into a program where you will struggle to fill a full offense and defense, let alone a roster.  The "ME" mentality was rampant in their program this year, lots of kids playing for individual glory; parents blaming staff/administration, when they should have been looking at their own kids first and the example their actions are setting for their kids.  North Canyon made this hire with rose colored glasses on.  With that hire they get a coach not known for discipline and structure.  I'm sure he was a "great interview" but a quality program is not determined in an office, nor by wins and losses, but by the quality of young man that steps on the field and into the community, and makes the needed sacrifices for his team.  Other candidates were better qualified for this undertaking, but who knows.  History tends to repeat itself, but time will be the true measure.
