Joe Nauert - LB (Brophy Prep)

Has anyone ever heard of this kid or seen him play? Just watched his highlight tape and seems like a legit prospect. I've seen him a couple times in passing league and has a solid frame. Looks to be about 6'1-6'2 and probably around 220. What do you guys think?

Do you really want an honest assessment? I am never sure whether to take it literally when people ask for opinions? Sometimes, they are just looking for positive PR.

Almost every play was an unblocked blitz.  In these clips he is never faced with screen recognition or has to take on any real blockers.  Looks like he has decent speed to the ball but he never even has to break down in this film.  It would be good to see him against some blocking or see if he can even cancel routes.  I guess we stay tuned.

Maybe BCPNation can tell us, since they have a clue on recruiting. Congrats Priest Willis.

Lets hear your honest opinion Nephxfootballfan. This kid seems to have good instincts, reads, and speed to the ball. I would like to see more pass game from him and more defeating the blocker in front of him to get better assessment. But with the combined speed and size you state, now it's up to Brophy's great recruiting to find him a place

expertstaff.. I would have to disagree with half of your statement those were not blitzes that is called making a read and knowing your assignment.  I thought he showed he has a great nose for the football and good angles to make him seem faster than he is(game speed).  But I do agree with you, I feel that some film of him taking on a block or two I would like to see.  Watching the quick video makes me wonder if he would try to side step an ISO block before taking it on.  Most of the tackles were plays outside the tackles were that angle would allow him to just run around the block and make the play.  I do like how he attacked downhill and did the little things like got his hands up on blitzes and seems to know his strengths!  I look forward to seeing what this kid does next season.  To call him a "legit prospect" is a bit of a reach for me but he should be one of the top LBs in the state next year.
