Deer Valley hires a coach
DV gave the job to longtime teacher and track coach, Eric Bolus.
I have no idea if he will be a good football coach or not, but he will be there until he dies.
He also built a great boys and girls track program at Deer Valley. Kids love the guy and he has always been realistic in the challenges that confront any coach at that school.
As we all know, being a successful football coach requires the "it" that is hard to define. But at least they will have some consistency at the HC position for awhile.

Heard he hired Kersting as his OC - if so, sounds like he is moving in the right direction.

Read in neighborhood papers that Larsen's was having trouble juggling Head Coach responsibilities with HC duties.
Also, Kersting approached Bolus about being his OC. Looks as if that is a done deal.

I like Kersting and think he is an excellent coach.
But one thing will baffle more for as long as I live.
It's the final series in that playoff game against Centennial. He took Trae Armstrong out of the game for the final 4 plays. Even if Trae was not given the ball, he would have required the attention of the entire Cent defense. No one from DV has ever been able to explain that to me.

Wow, this is an interesting hire, although on one hand it doesn't surprise me as he has been on campus for about 10+ years and for most if not all of that hes been apart of the Skyhawks program. I believe he was the Freshmen head coach while Rick Mey was at the helm of that program..

I know Bolus personally. He is a good coach and will do a fine job. Talked to some of the kids there and they are all excited to have him running the show. |

I don't know him, but wish every new coach success. More competition helps all the kids, and increases their national exposure.
