Any thoughts on the all D2 team

yes, several.  Any specific question?

Who do you think should make the team. Does kinsler make cuz he broke the passing record? How many centennial or ironwood ridge guys make the cut?

D2 QB selections are very tough:  Kinsler did alot with very little and no defense.  My guess is that Kinsler shows up as an hon mention, but not on 1st or 2nd team.  Coach Davis will/is disagreeing, rightfully so.  Eckley was brilliant, but was surrounded by talent, but likely get on the 1st or 2nd team.  Gungl had a heck of year too, throwing for 2400 yds and just a few INTs (5).  He makes it somewhere.  have to throw Macias in there too, despite an early exit by Chavez. (Telern1:  any input here?)

Ironwood Ridge:  Tyler Williams should be some type of POY (outright or offensive), perhaps in the "Athlete" catorgory.  Their RB (forget his name - Braunreiter) also makes a strong showing on the All State team somewhere.  There will be several others. 

Centennial:  Jalen Ortiz will show up on the 1st team; Grant, either or both of their stud OLs show up on either the 1st or 2nd teams as well as a few of their defensive players.  I think Cent's young RB makes an appearance too, Young.

MdN:  Willlis, Lee, Elvira, Craig, Henson - all 1st or 2nd team picks.

Chap:  Roh makes an appearance and Agonon, Walker, Schencker (once he settled down), Carruther, and Hamilton all had a decent year.

I agree with centennial o line. Sleeper pick for running back is Jett Robertson from Ironwood. Very talented kid.

I like Braunreiter from Ironwood Ridge.

Do not agree with Robertson you need to show up against the good teams.Against Apollo 15 carries 61yds Against Centennial 27 carries 63 yds against Kellis decent defense 21 carries 88 yds but against St Marys 268 yds Deer Valley 248 yds Central 212 yds Sunnyslope 217 yds

I'll make a run at this; not my definitive list and will probably modify later.  Never thought the old-AZCentral catch-phrase of "YEAR OF THE RIDGE" would be used to refer to Ironwood Ridge (it was always used in reference to Mountain Ridge).

I like your post Woody. This is a pretty good list. I couldn't remove anyone and my additions would be bias. Much props here.

Denson at 2nd team is silly. He should be first team somewhere, not nessecarily in front of Williams but at some position. He will be all AZ first team at some position, how could he be first team in D2? Otherwise I like the list.

I think Woody`s has some picks that are spot on some others I disagree with. At linebacker Antonio Diggs from Millennium is right. Westbrook who is a great kid with a great family is not in the top 3 at linebacker. Gilbert Reger from Chavez led D-II in tackles, he was also 2nd or 3rd in the state last year before he blew his knee out in the game against Camelback. Craig from Marcos, 2nd team I don`t think so. On the Offensive line I believe the Center from Marcos De Niza I think his name like Tyler Henson should be on this list. I also firmly believe the right tackle from Chavez (Mario Nava) has been completly overlooked. Both of these players were very good linemen and would start for any team in the valley.

I think your post shows that you are clearly a Chavez fan. Leading the state in tackles according to maxpreps maybe, but the fact that Chavez as a team makes 87+ tackles a games and a team like Centennial makes under 50 shows that the Chavez coaches and other schools coaches have differing definitions of what a tackle is. Those stats are clearly not universal and should be viewed as such. I know you cant watch every player from every team but you cant base all-state selections just on stats. I can argue that if you hadnt seen Jalen Ortiz play and only take into account his stats, he would not be getting 1st team all Arizona considerations.

You're jockeying for more Chavez players.  Shocking 

I don't put much stock into tackles from any Chavez players because it's pretty obvious that those numbers are inflated; when you have more than twice as many assists as you do solo tackles (like Reger does) it's pretty obvious that someone is tampering with stats.  This is without mentioning that the only legit team Chavez played all season was Marcos.  

And no offensive lineman from Cesar friggin' Chavez would start over the four D-1 recruits at Centennial.

What position will he be first-team all-state at?  I guarantee that Obert isn't considering him for any other position than Athlete (which I totally agree with), and in that argument you not only have Williams but also are going to have Luke from Hamilton, Williams from Ironwood Ridge, Ortiz from Centennial, Brown from Mountain Pointe.

As good as Denson might be it's going to be a numbers game at that athlete position.  Sure you could plug him in at wide receiver, but I'm going to guess that won't happen.

This is what happens when you post a list. People will argue a player or two, but no list of their own. Jason will get the same when his list is posted.
