Would it be safe to say you live outside of the Valley? SirWalter43 wrote: Brophy vs Mountain Pointe Hamilton vs Desert Ridge Centennial vs Salpointe Catholic Ironwood Ridge vs Marcos De Niza Williams Field vs Desert Edge Nogales vs Queen Creek

Re: Semi playoff picks
No, I'm not outside the valley but do think Nogales does have a good chance of upsetting Queen Creek. On paper they have almost everything going against them but teams out of Nogales have an extra gear when it comes to playing playoff sports. I do think that Salpointe will beat Centennial and this won't be an upset either. The Marcos vs Ironwood Ridge game will be a squeaker and could go either way. This last game depends on how well Ironwood is physically and if Marcos can sustain for the full 48 minutes. They built up a big lead against Chap last week and then Chap came back in the second half.

Re: Semi playoff picks
I think there is a very good chance for an all Tucson D2 final. Salpointe is playing well and Centennial hasnt seen a team like that all season. Ironwood came out slow against a fast and athletic Apollo team and then lowered the hammer with their power. Marcos comes off a big emotional win (finally) over Chaparall now has to go on the road to face Ironwood in their own backyard after Ironwood got a wake up call last week against a similar (although far less talented) team? Sounds like a problem game for Marcos.

RE: Semi playoff picks
In their first meeting, Marcos was terrible against the run and got 3 punts blocked which gave IR a short field on two of them.. They are playing much better now and will have more balance on offense. I wouldn't call it a problem game for Marcos (which is being played at Campo Verde).

Had a brain freeze on the game location - Ironwood has to do more of the traveling. Still think its a problem game. Maybe down to the last posession?

Re: Semi playoff picks
So i take it you were at that game by any chance how much rain did you guys get ? That field was in terrible shape all mud and no footing and it looked like the band practiced on it.Weird thing is nothing else seemed wet but the field. Hope the sprinklers weren't left on to slow down in your words "fast and athletic Apollo team".

Re: Semi playoff picks
Of course they were. Some teams leave their grass long. In Tucson it gets colder at night sooner than Phoenix and that damn stuff doesnt grow any more. So what else do you do.

Re: Semi playoff picks
That is pretty funny. Left the sprinklers on? How about we are down to the best four teams in the state that earned their way to the top. Most paying attention all season long could see the gap between these four teams and the rest of the pack was huge. I Ridge played that game on the same field as Apollo and what I saw was an I Ridge team who came out flat and then just plain dominated Apollo after they regrouped. The four remaining teams are head shoulders better than the next tier of teams. Look at the scores in this round. Wet field? Gimmee a break. Its all about the match up and who exacutes tonight. I say the Coyotes match up very well with the Lancers. The lack of size on the D line of Ridge is what got them beat by Salpointe. If the Coyotes can stop Pena in the middle I say they win this one. The Marcos Ridge game. He who makes mistakes will lose this one. These teams match up very well. Toss up.
