Wesley McCoy

Wesley McCoy

Apparently Wesley McCoy has committed to Idaho for the 2014 recruiting class. From Califorinia champ Butte JC. He is a wr and would sign in Feb unless he is a late addition to new crop of 8.

I saw this on JuCo Football Forer

The Spokane Reviews report indicated 1 to 2 players more may be added during the early signing period. Maybe this is one of them.

To me, it sounded like we were going to sign either 3 or 4 more.

4.31 originally from Terrell Tx. You need to watch his hudl. SEC speed. Great returner and was selected first team All Cali JC as athlete/utility.

He reportedly benches 305 and squats 415.....pretty good for a guy who weighs 175.

Re: Wesley McCoy

Some interesting information on Mr. McCoy. I looked up his high school career to find out he graduated in 2008. Somewhere along the line Mr. McCoy took a break from his football career.

I am assuming he is 23 or 24 years old. Big props to him for re-engaging the dream to play college football. A lot of kids ditch their dreams and move on. We may have found a young man who is extremely motivated at reaching the top.

And for all of this speed we are seeing out of this staff... isn't it nice to have a coach, who was a successful high school track coach, who knows legitimate speed and how to recruit it.  Big props to Coach Cink for bring some burners to Moscow.

He looks like a hell of an athlete!

Loyal/boomer, what do you think about his foundamentals, route running, etc? Do you think he'll be able to go from JC athlete to FBS WR with only fall camp under his belt or will he need a while to put it all together?

Interesting tidbit...Butte receivers coach? Bobby Bernal...name ring a bell? former Vandal WR Bobby Bernal-Wood. Wonder if he had any play in this happening?

I didn't realize Bobby was coaching there now.  He played at Butte before he came to Idaho.....caught passes from Aaron Rodgers for a season.

Re: Wesley McCoy

Honestly I think he might play both sides of the ball for us. He could easily be a starter or nickel corner and have a package role on offense.

Everything he did offensively for Butte was package based.  Not a lot of everydown WR play from him.

He will be a nice addition to our RETURN game as well.

For some reason the more I look at this guy the more excited I am. I hope he sticks with us and I hope he turns out.

Re: Wesley McCoy

The thing I like most is he has greats speed and vision. He sees the field really well. His burst is like from stop to holy crap! It will be interesting to see how he is used. Could he be Idahos black mamba?

Re: Wesley McCoy

Yes, I was going to comment on his vision. That's what enables him to see those cutbacks and direction changes.
