What's funny is alot of uninformed huskers fans around here claim that 1994 d was miami's best of all time.  nope.  not even miami's best d-line.  that would be 1989 with cortez kennedy, russel maryland and jimmie jones rotating the dt's spots.  jimmie jones would be top 5 all time at nebraska all time for dt's had he gone there.

another funny thing is how husker fans compare teams played as opposed to paying attention to the potential match up between the two two teams.  Who cares if nu95 ran all over a garabge uf defense with one nfl player?  meaningless.

Miami 2001 poses huge match up issues for your 95 squad team.  osborne would be overwelmed.

Well, your entire argument is based on stopping the "option" of the 2001 Nebraska team. Problem is, the 2001 NU squad barely ran the same offense, and would get trounced by the '95 team. The 1995 huskers pulled their starters in the 3rd quarter in almost every game, sometimes in the 2nd quarter. This made games look closer than they were because the other team scored on our 3rd and 4th string guys. Meanwhile, UM had to play their starters in a few games against average teams, just to have a chance to win.

With our backup QB and RB, we would still run it directly down Miami's throat, forcing UM to cheat up, and then throw lollipops to wide open TE's. UM would have trouble with NU's O-line (no sacks all year) and NU would control the LOS. The NU pass rush would overwhelm UM, and Dorsey would get crushed.

Nebraska by 4 TD's.

2001 Miami beat the 2001 Huskers by 23 points.

1995 Huskers would have beaten the 2001 Huskers by 40 points.

What the 1995 team did to garbage teams from 1995 means nothin. It's about match ups and the match ups don't favor Nebraska.

Because.....

you said so?

Did matchups matter against Boston College that year?  Because I doubt they had as much talent as Miami did and they seemed to fair o.k.

Lol. Those four "garbage" teams that finished in the top 10 were better than anyone Miami played. I think 1995 UF would beat 2001 Miami.

The fact is, NU wins because they were faster, stronger, and had more depth.

NU by 4 TD's.

No they weren't and finishing in the top 10 in a down year is meaningless. Miami dam near had more nfl talent than all those scrub tams combined. That garbage uf defense y'all played against had 1 nfl player amounts the starters. That's trash baby.

First, equating NFL success to college success (an vice versa) is a failure in logic. History bares this out.

Second, Shockey and Johnson would have been fairly irrelevant because Dorsey would have been running for his life. Nebraska's OL would have owned UM's DLine (like they did everyone else... they gave up zero sacks all year). NU's Defensive front would have been in the backfield all day long because of the nature of Miami's offense.

Who says it was a down year?

You? Well whoopty fricking doo.

Because Sagarin and other SOS rankers disagree completely.

Once again, equating NFL talent to collegiate success is a logical fallacy. With all that "NFL talent" UM's coaching staff must have sucked ass considering how they needed miracles to beat 4 loss BC and VT teams.

NU win's by 4 TD's.

Has U Miami ever been man enough to play Nebraska in Lincoln in late November or January 1 , like how Miami always got a home field game? No. They'd be crying and wouldn't even get on a plane. Shut up and go back keep rooting for the Cocaines.

This is what I love about this board. We will get on here and argue all day about if Bo is the right coach for the job. if Cotton can coach or recruit and any number of other things. But let some outsiders come here talking smack and we band together like no other group of fans. I love being a Husker fan.

Re: Sapp to the HOF

I don't believe either team would blow the other out. I think both teams were phenomenal. The difference I think in the end would be Nebraska being the more disciplined, well conditioned, & tougher team. Maybe  somewhere around 31-21 or 31-24 Nebraska.

Remember, if NFL careers were the only thing that matters, Nebraska never would have beaten Peyton Manning, Jamal Lewis, John Henderson and Albert Haynesworth in 97. Or Ray Lewis and Warren Sapp in 94.

That being said, don't sell the NFL pedigree of 95 Nebraska short. Mike Minter, Ahman Green, Grant Wistrom, Tyrone Williams, Mike Rucker, Joel Makovicka, Eric Warfield, Michael Booker, Adam Treu, Chris Dishman all had nice NFL careers. And about 30 players total went on to play in the NFL.  I think 9 players overall went in the first 2 rounds.

And four names that haven't been mentioned were arguably Nebraska's best college players on that team. Terrell Farley, Tommie Frazier, Lawrence Phillips & Aaron Taylor.

Again, I think its silly to say either team would destroy the other, but I think Nebraska had some intangibles working in its favor. If they played 10 times, give me Nebraska 6-7 of those times.

You can't just name 2 players and think they make the team. 2001 Miami was the def of team. They had a star at every level and backups stars at every level. The secondary had 6 1st rd picks alone.

Grant windstorm isn't better than Dwight freeney who McKinney had no problem shutting down. Nthe rest of your dline weren't all that great. Look who they were facing. Did they face any great players at all during that year? Didnt allow a sack? What great defensive players did Colorado have? Florida? Can you name one great pass rusher on either team? Lmao

And we're haynsworth and Henderson even on that team in 1997? Hmm no sense in making up stuff to spice up an already handicapped argument.

Re: Sapp to the HOF

Here are a couple of polls I found on who is the greatest team of all time. The funny thing is I could find one where anyone put the '01 Miami as #1.

http://voices.yahoo.com/how-ca...857.html?cat=14

http://articles.sun-sentinel.c...r-florida-state

http://espn.go.com/page2/s/lis...tCollegefb.html

http://www.the-top-tens.com/li...tball-teams.asp

http://state18.hubpages.com/hu...e-Single-Season

I did find two polls that didn't have the '95 Huskers, but sorry to tell you they picked the
'71 Huskers.
