San Diego State has played themselves on the bubble...

San Diego State has played themselves on the bubble...

Wow how things have changed... before it was UNM that had to worry about CSU or Wyoming winning the tournament and being left out in the cold...

Now it is SDSU...

UNM really needs SDSU and UNLV to win some games...

Haven't heard one iota about SDSU or UNLV being anything but a lock.

I think they're fine....and they'll pick up the slack going into the MWC tournament.

If you know that you're a lock already, what do you really have to play for?

For all intensive purposes, they might still be in the Top 25 for a total of three teams.

San Diego State has lost 3 in a row and 4 out of their last 6...
UNLV has lost 3 out of their last 4

UNM has won their last 7

SDSU & UNLV are fine. We're the 5th RATED CONFERENCE. Look at the 5th rated conferences from years past.

Anyway, it's nice to finally come to the Website and not have to defend or explain anything to the non believers. I'll be sleeping well again tonight.

"Ride the wave" and believe!!!!!!

So are you now convinced the Lobos are in without having to win the tournament? I might have missed the post where you ate crow and admitted you were wrong about this team being capable of earning an at-large.

Re: San Diego State has played themselves on the bubble...

I said last week

If they won both games they are in
If they won one game it was 50-50
If they lost both they needed the tourney.

Now today i feel they are in... There are still a few games to go if this team pulls an SDSU there could be trouble, but I think Alford is to good a coach to let that happen so they are in.

Hope you enjoy crow Bandito!  Can't believe you are so negative!  By the way, the MWC will have 3 teams in the NCAA tournament.  Count on it!  This is the toughest conference in the West and the Lobos are the best team in the West.  They are capable of running the table.  Don't know if they will, but if they beat CSU watch out!

Although that's true, I think you're microscoping a bit too much.

They're still 20+ win teams with less than 10 losses in the 5th most difficult conference in the country and probably still ranked PLUS the critics aren't going to be as harsh during conference play for losses in general.

It would take many more flubs before the experts would take away their "lock" status...or maybe even waiver on it. They took care of business during OOC and split with us. They're fine.

I'm negative? I have the Lobos running the table... I know they will...

Joe Cordova the official Red Menace security guard 3 years now told me 2 weeks ago, it is all about depth for the Lobos. He called it that night and he is right... The Lobos depth can't be challenged.

Well, SDSU's loss to AF certainly doesn't help the Lobos. We are probably not gonna need it, but it would have been good for the conference if SDSU had been able to stay in the Top 25  noidea

If SDSU is on the bubble then so are we. If a fluke loss at Air Force puts a team on the bubble, then I think a lot of teams are in trouble

Steve Fisher has a lot of respect on a national level, and UNLV beat Roy Williams and the mecca team of college basketballl UNC. No way these teams are on the bubble. I wouldn't be surprised if all 3 were ranked after this week.

Unless the Lobos lose more than two games the rest of the way, they are a 6 seed at worst and will be a 3 seed if they run the table and cut down the nets in Vegas, irregardless of what the Craptecs of the Stumbling Rebels do.

I just enjoy watching the Craptecs and  Stumbling Rebels, with their lack of character and toughness lose.

It's even more satisfying to see the Lobos responding so well to the early season adversity.

Getting back to the original premise for the post, I think Lee Roy may be right about this one, although I'll bet he never thought of Jamaal Franklin's ankle as being the probable reason for a questionable outcome to the rest of the pre-March-Madness season.

I also think the depth of the Lobos has really started to help... SDSU and UNLV have hit a wall... Meanwhile a well stocked Lobo bench has really come through and they have passed the wall leaving UNLV and SDSU in their wake.

Re: NCAA Tournament Invite Possibilites Post Rating (3 votes)

Here is my thought...

Lobos win this week twice... In
Lobos lose to SDSU and UNLV... Still saying we have to win the tourney
Lobos lose to SDSU and beat UNLV I think there is about a 50/50 shot unless they win 2 games in tourney.

Basically I'm going to jump off the win the tourney or be left out prediction to start the season... But they have to win 2.

Re: new mexico is going to have a long year.. Post Rating (5 votes)

The problem is now the Lobos HAVE to win the MWC tourney... The big gamble with a cupcake schedule is when one of the cupcakes beats you....

Yep that was you LR. Why do you even fight it man? 95% of the posters here have been hearing this same crap from you since the middle of the non conf. schedule. Just be a good boy and take your medicine already. My response to your above post in November was:

You have to be kidding us right? You cannot be serious...

And yet another post months from ago Lee Roy:

We are not a mentally tough team.
We have no inside game and why we keep trying to post Drew Gordon up when he can't do it is just mind boggling.
The cupcake schedule came back and bit us on the butt! When the Lobos jumped on SDSU they didn't just roll over and quit.
The 3 point offense sucked when Bliss was the coach and it still does with Alford as the coach. It won't give us
success in any tourneys...
We HAVE TO WIN THE MWC TOURNEY TO GO TO THE NCAA TOURNEY!

Sad thing is we even had posters saying we might not make the NIT... Man, that was nuts..
