The saddest part of the night for me... I DON'T KNOW ANYONE! Post Rating (3 votes)

I have to admit that I am heartbroken to know so few people on this team...

This is the first year that has ever happened in 25 years and it sucks... I'm sorry but Lobo fans are like who is this? Who is that? Who is #14? Who is #2 Are they any good? Can they play? noideanoideanoideanoideanoideanoidea

Honestly I've never understood Davie's "secret" practice crap... Nobody knows any of these players talent, names, skill set, tendencies... NOTHING!

And I'm sorry but to keep hearing "We are getting better"... Well if tonight was any indication, and that is the only indication I have to base it on...

No we are not!

Well it could just be that there is, obviously, nothing to see at practice,...eek I cannot stand mistakes in crunch time. Good teams close out a game like this. Ugh!tongue I know one person,....#28! Time to nut up Lobos and play EVERY PLAY LIKE IT IS YOUR LAST,...

You know where the mistake was made?

HAVING THE KID BACK THERE!

That was a coaching decision! Why even have Gamblin back there?

That is because they are hidden away in Ruidoso.  And what has Ruidoso ever done for them?  Every year we hear about how good they are in SE NM and every season they open up with a dud.

Under Coach Davie we won 4 games, 3 games and from the looks of this game 2 wins for this season.

Well if they aren't in Ruidoso... They are in closed quarters here.

Either way the only identity this team has is Bob Davie... Seriously, he is on all the commercials, on all the paperwork, all that everyone talks about... Bob Davie IS the face of Lobo football...

I'm not so sure that is such a good idea...

The camp in the cool mountains of Ruidoso while staying in a luxury resort isn't my idea of creating toughness.

I'm not sure that staying in a hotel in Albuquerque is going to make the team any tougher -- unless I'm mistaken the players can't stay in student housing until school starts.

As for the team having no identity other than Bob Davie, that seems to be the case with most programs that don't have one star player. I'm not sure that's the root of the problem here.

Maybe Bob Davie isn't the guy. Or maybe the situation is so profoundly bad that UNM really is going to need a full five years to turn the situation around. I don't know.

All i know is that for all the bad things that UNM football showed tonight, they were still had a chance to with six minutes left in the game. That counts as something, doesn't it?

I agree with this DV. This team is soft. They also don't hit in practice and that is showing in games. They can't tackle.

Just going to say it... And Kenn and everyone else you know I'm the biggest Lobo football HONK in the world! Maybe Rudy C. gives me a run for my money... MAYBE!

But the one word and it isn't even a word I give now...

UTEP

Better UTEP than Portland State.

And BTW, on hitting, I may be wrong on this one but it seems like there are severe limitations on hitting in practice. The days of teams hitting 3-4 days a week in practice are gone.

I'm basing this on the new NMAA guidelines, which the national HS federation seems to have based on the NCAA guidelines.

But I never played football - I had plenty of friends that did. And based off their experiences and how much they put into it, I don't call any athlete "soft." But that's me.

Camp should be held on an Indian Reservation and accomations should consist of a tent and a hose for water and throw in some rattle snakes, what the hell.

Monday morning coaches are out in force WOW have not one of you made a mistake in say the last week speeding ticket, forgot something at store, lost keys, etc. Put down the negatives and go forward with the positives. Davie has been honest with 5 year plan from day one truth sucks but it is what it is. Sure lets fire him tommorrow and hire some dude that says we need another digit for scoreboard that worked out great. Crap lets get a damn unicorn for our new mascot. Lobos don't read this negative crap get back to the team and build on fact you clawed back into this game and don't look back at mistakes because they are behind you and you don't have time to go back go forward Davies knows it I know it and when this program is in full swing the naysayers will be thumping their chest lie Monday morning qbs. Go forward fight on Davies told us 5 years quit pretending he is guy that said we need extra digits and screw rocky long he is long gone to asstecs who we will own again soon. There is a Chinese bamboo tree that starts out as a little seed and you must fertilize and water it regularly for years and nothing happens nothing grows during sometime in the 5th year the thing sprouts and grows 90 feet in six weeks. Keep supporting this team giving it water go to games love this team. We will all receive rewards in 5 years yeah we will get discouraged but don't ever give up and remember you have to keep watering keep fertilizing and be persistant and have the faith if we keep doing what we always do we will keep getting the same results ie quit going to games , bitching about coach, krebs, I know all of you will be there we have to be hard I. Those other damn fans we know this can be special place if we sale it to the others we know that have no patience fight on lobos

So now, in addition to everything else, we expect Bob Davie to come up with a time machine to take his Lobo team back to the reservations of the 1800s... banghead

A time machine is pretty much what it would take.
There are no reservations where people live in tents, surrounded by rattlesnakes.

What you describe sounds more like a camping trip that football camp. biggrin

The mistake was the kid trying to catch the ball!!! So the next time a running back is illegally in motion the mistake was having him back there???

What's interesting about this post is that the owner/operator of the other Lobo website has the exact same post. That is telling when the two web site operators who never agree on anything have virtually the same thoughts with regard to the football team. Davie needs to stop with the secrecy. We all see the team and know the schemes. Let's at least get to know some players.

It's a dangerous philosophy to take when the program is trying to be rebuilt and one of the key elements to that is getting fans. It's one thing to take the Bear Bryant approach but that will only work for so long today and you better be winning. Otherwise, what kind of approach are the casual Lobo football fans supposed to take. It's tough to get support when people know little about what they would be supporting.
