Where is the paw coming from?  Do we want to look like Clemson? 

I voted for the side Lobo but the shield is a close second.

Yeah the paw is stupid. I hate whenever UNM uses it.

I prefer the re-introduction of the ZIA SYMBOL.

Since the Zia symbol was used without the permission of the Zia Pueblo for over 70 years, UNM should ask their permission before using it again, IMHO (the symbol, which is sacred to the Zia Pueblo people, was taken off a pot that was stolen from the Zia Pueblo and ended up in the hands of the doctor who won the contest to design the state flag.)

If UNM is willing to negotiate a usage contract with the Zia Pubelo similar to the one Florida State has with the Seminole Tribe, I'm OK with UNM using the Zia...

but only if they bring back the turquoise.

The tweet made it sound like it's just for fun with some of the other schools releasing new helmets the past couple of days.

I voted for the side view.  The shield is OK but I prefer the side view Lobo.

Side view here too. Never liked the shield on the helmet, in fact that probably would have been near the bottom of my list.

The shield will not change if I have anything to do with it! It is unique and it says "LOBOS" which is the only team in college football with that name. The side view could be any number of schools who have a mascot that is similar to a wolf or a wolf.

I think the shield is the worst option on there. There is too much going on with that helmet and I think it looks bad. I would prefer any of those other helmets over this one.

There are a lot of unique names in college football that aren't spelled out on the side of helmets.

I think the shield sucks donkey nuttz, but it isn't as bad as the white NM helmet. Those lids need to be burned!

NIU for one but they have the nutz to put the schools initals on the helmet.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the shield logo and it looks great to me.

Hey Rudy, you should post all the recent helmets side by side. Sometimes going from memory is foggy at my age.

We have one of the most unique mascots labels in college sports. Why not use it more often?

That being said I'm completely irrelevant in this discussion because they have yet to come out with a logo that I haven't approved of.

They could put the baseball intertwined logo on the helmet and I would be satisfied. Seriously.

I'm with you Fur, with the exception that I would not be a fan of the zia symbol since it has nothing to do with the University.  I think it's enough that we have the NM Man run on to the field with the NM flag which has the zia symbol.
