Disagree with Paul Krebs...

Disagree with Paul Krebs...

I read on the MWC board that Krebs yesterday was saying something to the effect he was against SDSU coming because they "don't move the needle"...

I understand the thought and yes they are arrogant, but the reality is we should allow them back in because of the "access" to television stations... It is the same reason that SJSU was let in...

Neither school is exactly on fire when it comes to ratings or cared about in each of their markets, but the reality is they are still in big population bases, and if the bandwagon were to switch over, that is "access" to many TV sets...

So yeah, let Boise, BYU, and SDSU back in...

But all three should come in knowing their role... Which is just another school, not some sort of big shot.

Make sure you let him know that you disagree.

No problem, we have disagreed plenty of times in the past... I'm not one of these website owner/administrators that is afraid to speak my mind for fear that "nobody will answer my questions" rolleyes

I leave that gutless stuff to others.

Oh and just so you know... Krebs isn't so sensitive that if someone disagrees he runs to the no more answers for you crap. Paul has always been really good even if I piss him off at answering questions and discussing everything...

And yes I have irritated him plenty of times... Still, we are working on getting him on the TV show, and I know if I buzz him, he will answer my questions...

There is no question that the MWC should invite SDSU, BSU and BYU back if they want to come.  All three add tremendous value, frankly much more than Wyoming or CSU.

But we do need them. They were invited to join a conference and we weren't.. They add value to our conference as does Boise and BYU. We need them more than they need us. That's the sad story and the truth. We cannot deny this. If we do than we are a delusional fan base.

Yes it would be best if they return, however if BSU were to return and STDSU didn't it would not bother me one way or the other. Krebs is right BSU is the one that moves the meter, STDSU doesn't move ****......they are basically just along for the ride with BSU. And yes their fans are the most delusional fan base in the MW!

Re: Disagree with Paul Krebs...

It is a two way race with three schools in the mix. The first two to come back to the MW makes it a 12 team league. I can live with that for a couple of years and then bust the bubble or glass ceiling or whatever you want to call it!

RE: Disagree with Paul Krebs...

I didn't hear Mr. Krebs exact words and no one on the MWC board has produced audio or even a transcript.

My guess is that it was a question comparing Boise St. and SDSU. In that context, SDSU doesn't move the needle compared to Boise. Boise St. has a national brand. SDSU is regional at best, especially in football.

Mr. Krebs hasn't been given to making controversial comments in the past. I find it hard to believe that he's suddenly turned Skip Bayless and is going rogue on his radio show.

Wyoming and CSU have won more Conference Championships than SDSU. I don't understand the hate for these two programs by many fans in our Conference. Why are these two schools always being singled out to be kicked to the curb? UNM has a long history with CSU and Wyoming, and I hope that will continue long into the future.

Re: Disagree with Paul Krebs...

SDSU does not offer what you think they do. If they did then why is the current MWC TV contract so small. It was negotiated when the league had SDSU.

UNM is in competition for a spot in either the Big 12 or the Pac-10. Dog eat dog. It`s business.  SDSU wants a spot in the Big 12 or PAC 12. They will take whichever comes first. They are our competitors. Why should we help them now that they are w/o a secure home. I say let them rot in the BE and BW.

RE: Disagree with Paul Krebs...

I say let BYU and Boise in......from a football fan perspective and common sense

Let SDSU sweat a little.....then ask them to join for basketball-only. SDSU adds nothing in football that we don't already have. Let Rocky Long play football in the Big Sky for all I care

For one thing Wyoming only has about 550,000 people in their whole state. The other thing is that Colorado State is located in northern Colorado which has only about 350,000. Utah State can fall into the same category. They all make the needle go backwards.

To paraphrase Paul Krebs he said San Diego State might be in a big television market but that doesn't mean people are turning on their tv's to watch San Diego State football. That is why Kreb's said San Diego State does not add much if they returned to the MWC.

My point is that I don't think he'll care if you disagree. His opinions carry the weight between the two of you.

I don't have anything at all against CSU and Wyoming.  They just have very small TV markets.

Ft. Collins is actually part of the Denver media market. College sports in general does not have great penetration into the Denver market. It's a pro sports market by all accounts.

That's what I figured...
