RE: Whatever happened to RedSox87122?
Was he the nice, I think older gentleman, that used to post a lot in the football forum? Was very good at keeping the peace and working to keep everyone getting along? Used to invite everyone to all the tailgates? If it is, I liked his posts a lot and am sorry he's gone.

As far as I remember from his PMs and comments what go to him was the overall atmosphere over on the politics board where he was very active and a moderator. And the hate over there comes from BOTH sides in almost equal terms.

And you might be right that the hate comes from both sides but when the hate towards him came from a few of the libs then I would say BanditO is completly right.

I always had a good relationship with him on the politics board even though we disagreed on many issues. That board can get ugly and being the moderator was/is hard.

RE: Whatever happened to RedSox87122?
Redsox wasn't a fan, he fancied himself as someone who knew a lot about football, and bought his way into being a moderator by contributing $ to TRM to advertise his wife as an insurance lady. He said/wrote that the players were quitters. No real fan, or anyone who knows football, or anybody who has a brain in his head demeans the character of the kids/team who give their all every week. No one who knows the slightest thing about football impugns the players. Call them out for missing tackles, but never call them cowards or quitters. Never attack their characters. Coaches have had player revolutions and jobs have been lost over this. Good riddance. And, now it seems he is the quitter. LOL

LOL Don't hold back,..tell us how you really feel! I know him personally, I have always said a thick skin isn't necesary for sports talk,...but it helps! Also you have to be willing to listen to other opinions and acknowledge them because sometimes you (I) are wrong.

I had lunch with him and Rudy one time, and he was extremely cordial and great company. Rudy, not so much. It's a shame that he stopped posting about sports because of that wacky politics sub-forum.

LOL Dude, you are way off on this statement. Last year, Redsox spent a huge amount of time attempting to get the "Fans in the stands" initiative started, with the aim of helping to contribute to stadium improvements and overall atmosphere. He and I spent a few weeks putting together a presentation, and he spent a heck of a lot more time trying to pump up interest on the board. Unfortunately, he (and Rudy if I remember right) presented the initiative to the athletic department and were met basically with a thanks but no thanks response. I think he had the best interests of the team and the program at heart, and in addition, he was one of the better moderators on this board, mainly because he helped bring a voice of reason to an insanely turbulent season. The Lobo athletic program needs more supporters like Redsox, who thought outside of the box when it came to building a successful program.

Honestly, I can't remember 80% of what was said on this board last year, and I really don't want to rehash that ridiculously hateful season now, for the sake of my own sanity. However, what I remember about Redox (David) was that he was a moderator of this board in the truest sense of the word. When two people would argue from extremely different positions, he generally made counter-points to each argument that neutralized the heated discussions, and helped people to not try and tear each others heads off. In this sense, he always tried to see things from the other's point of view, even if it differed from his own. That made him a pretty good moderator in my eyes, and in the eyes of several others as evidence by this thread. What I most remember though is the countless hours that he spent trying to promote Lobo football, and start something that had never been accomplished at the university before. Unfortunately it didn't work out as we had hoped, but I like to think that he left an overall positive mark on this board. I certainly became more proactive because of him, he convinced me to start contributing to the Lobo club, which I had never done before that. Edit: I still have the .ppt presentation on Fans in the Stands (later termed Our Vision) that he put together for Tim Cass et al., if anyone is interested in viewing it hit me up and I'll send it out.

RE: Whatever happened to RedSox87122?
I think Dave was a great guy, and I do miss him not only on the board but personally as well, as I remember his entire family would come out and tailgate and I also spoke with his son when he started playing YAFL football... And the enthusiasm and all... At the tailgates, with the brauts, he brought his neighbor over, and yes I do miss his political talk as well... Agree or disagree Dave is a good passionate fan and I loved talking with the guy...
But like anything else, when you put yourself in a leadership role there are people that are going to knife you, try to screw you, bad mouth you, and rip on you... I know I have a whole group of ankle biters just like that... And I made the mistake of when people were getting on him, not jumping up and defending him as adamantly as I should have...
Still, Dave should know that he is always welcomed on this board, and he and his wife are welcomed to all our tailgates and other functions that we have.
Like I said I miss the guy on the board, and personally...

RE: Whatever happened to RedSox87122?
RedSox is an absolute great guy, we disagreed on politics, but I would defend his character to anyone. What he may have or may not have said about players is irrelevant, we've all made posts we later regretted, but there is no doubt in my mind he is one of the more caring and intelligent people I've met from this forum. Politics never interfered with our friendship, so you can stop bashing liberals now. Grow up already.
