Wow Maryland and New Mexico have similiar problems...

Wow Maryland and New Mexico have similiar problems...

ABQ Journal's Geoff Grammer just brought this up...

Maryland has lost all 4 of their QB's this year due to injuries and are now putting a kid that started the season as a 3rd string linebacker under center.

I know we have Q followed by Gentry... Wonder who is the guy after that? Flash? KC?

My educated guess is that Flash would be next in line since he's been working in the Wildcat.

K.C. has been taking direct snaps already too tho, so he's probably an... option.  wink

A big part of running the option is the need for a few more QB's than those schools who don't run the option. :-)

You can blame ML if you want for our current team/QB situation, but he didn't force Stump, Tarrian, or that Walton kid, or anyone else to quit the team... that was their own decision, so you can place some of that blame on those kids that decided for what ever reason, that leaving a sunk ship was the best thing to do for them.
If even half of the kids that deserted UNM would have had the same intestinal fortitude of the kids that stayed and stuck it out, coach Davie would have probably had an even more surprising turn around than UNM is having now.

Can you imagine what we could do with Stump or Tarrian behind center... lost opportunity for them imo.

Yes I agree, the real losers are the players who left,..they lost a round in the game of life.

I disagree 110% and I disagree adamantly... We all have to do what is best for ourselves, or what we perceive is best for ourselves... Sure hindsight it is easy to say this was the best thing, but perhaps a player that leaves/left has to get out of a bad situation for himself go somewhere else, get different mentors/teachers/coaches and GROW UP!

It is easy for me to sit back with my 40+ years of experience on this planet and condemn a guy for leaving, but I'm not in his shoes, I don't know what is going on in his life, or where his mind set is...

I try to go back and remember where I was at 18-20 and to be honest I was a freaking mess. Thinking I was so smart and the world owed me everything, and consequently I wasted a lot of years and opportunities... But I will tell you right now with a straight and honest face first...

I'm no loser! Second I wouldn't trade those wasted or growing years for anything in my life. Those years made me the man I am today!
---------------

This loser stuff is for the birds as we take plenty of transfers ourselves... Think of a guy like Lamaar Thomas... This guy is a standup teammate that had the rug pulled out from under him football wise. Was brought in here to be a receiving superstar, and now is running some option... He could be bitching, grousing, crying, complaining, screaming, or whatever... But instead he is a grown man that will be successful in whatever he chooses to accomplish in his life.

Yet at Ohio State are some bucknuts calling him a "loser" for leaving?

Reggie Ellis, Ugo Uzodinma, Javarie Johnson... Are they "losers" because they left their previous schools. I will say no stinking way! They had to do what is best for themselves and have been successful.
-------------------

I see an injury like Marcus Lattimore's this weekend, or even guys like C-Bow or Brrr... this weekend and I think these guys are busting their butts putting themselves on the line every play, every practice, every day at the gym for our entertainment... I have been blessed to keep in touch with some young men that have left the Lobo program, But for the most part once a player leaves a given university if they don't go pro most people forget about them and the cheers stop for them... I think we should give each and everyone of our guys some respect even if they think UNM is not the place for them... They aren't slaves or indentured servants and aren't forced to stay in a situation that isn't conducive to them in life.

you are lumping everyone into one catagory,..I was speaking of two individuals, nowhere did I say "all" people who transfer.

But each individual has their own reason for transferring... I know we have had some transfer because they are far away from their kids, or a member of the family is dying, or they can't get along with a coach or the coach, or they are bombing out in school, or they are homesick, or they aren't getting enough playing time, or they weren't named starter, or because the sun came up, or they lost their fire for football...

Whatever the reason, we should just wish them well and send them on their merry way... After all, at the end of the night we all sleep in our own head and have to live by our own decisions both good and bad.

I agree 100%. Plus the ones that leave have made friends with a lot of these players and I am sure they have explain to them their reasons for leaving so when we trash them for leaving all their friends on the team see is fans trashing their friends. Lets face it is is a always a tough decision for a young 18 to come far from home to play for the Lobos and maybe some do make a wrong decision on leaving but I bet there have been others who have decided to stay and it also was the wrong decision for them. Lets just thank them when they come and hope the best for them in life when they leave.

Yup, I'm standing with rudyc on this. At some point in their lives, they are going to have to make a decision to stand and fight. moving from team to team, job to job, city to city... whatever the adverse situation is helps no one... eventually you have to face your demons.

I'm not calling ANYONE a loser... but choosing to move on when it gets tough is a character issue for me. I have more respect for the kids that stayed and fought for, and thought of UNM and their education; kudos to them... IMO, the ones that stayed are the WINNERS regardless of their final football record!

How many of you still have the same job you started life with? How many the same career? How many the same wife or husband? How many the same city or state?

Or at sometime did you make a difficult decision to leave one or all?

Wow......just WOW!!!   These are 18, 19, and 20 yr old kids who opted to leave in order to better their situation in life, and you freakin' call them LOSERS?????????   People like YOU are one of the reasons that I no longer consider myself a Lobo fan.   So, what am I doing here if I am not a fan?   That's easy!   The UNM Lobos represent the Great State Of New Mexico!   MY beloved State!   So I like to check in here every once in a while just to keep up with things.  And when I do I find some crap like this???   Trashing kids seems to be the norm for Lobo fans......from trashing KIDS who decide to leave the program...to trashing KIDS like Aaron Lewis, Landry Jones, and Alan Branch who decided to go out of state.   It is very sad to say that a particular fan base can drive somebody away from a program, but that is what has happened in my case.   I think that the only "losers" here are Rudy C and the many Lobo fans that seem to agree with him.
