ESPN Article -- Building a Team USA of College Stars

ESPN Article -- Building a Team USA of College Stars

Typical ESPN Fluff but I did find it interesting that two of the starters for 'Team USA' are Sam and Frank in this scenario.

A few freshman made the 'team' as well.

Link for those interesting...

Err, I should have mentioned that. I've had it free for four or five years, I forget that it is paid 'content'.

Nothing much to it--basically Jeff Goodman picks a college All-Star team to represent USA. Two Badgers in his starting five. Some freshman made the team like Myles Turner, Okafor, etc but they warm the bench in this scenario.

Speaking of insider articles, there's also one about the best senior-lead teams this year with Josh and Frank as the pic on top.  Any chance you could give a summary of what they say about the Badgers?

More ESPN fluff. Just a small blurb about Wisconsin. We're going to win with three seniors and a junior. Ethan Happ is good, but not top 100, blah blah.

Most worthless part:

Our defense will improve this year, because last year our opponents shot 76% from the FT line. Our opponents won't shoot that well from the line again .... so .... our defense should improve because of that.

... or maybe when he leads the Badgers to another final 4 and is an NBA Draft lottery pick :)

Neither are happening. Caris LeVert will be the only B1G lottery pick and no B1G teams make the final four.

That is some funny stuff right there - LeVert who had lower offensive efficiency numbers last year than the "over-rated" Dekker. LeVert is a nice little player and all but he maxed out last year - he is what is.

The final four is a crap shoot so I'm not going to try to argue about who gets there, but the Badgers will get a number 1 seed this year and certainly be a favorite to make it back to the final four.

Sam Dekker had a higher USG% and offensive rating than Caris Levert.

LMAO. Silly Michigan fan...

Led by coach Gary Andersen, it is mathematically impossible for the Wisconsin Badgers not to win a National Championship

Re: ESPN Article -- Building a Team USA of College Stars

LeVert is longer, a better shooter, a better passer, a better ball handler, a better defender, younger, a better scorer, causes more turnovers, more athletic.

This is hilarious. JB will have his 3rd lottery pick in 3 years, Sam Dekker should be at the bottom of the 1st round.

In all seriousness, blueblood, what's your problem?  Of all programs to have such strong bitterness towards, the Badgers?  I like your coach a lot and get the impression that many Badger fans feel this way.  He's clean, a teacher, a little zen, your program is a lot like Wisconsin's.

Re: ESPN Article -- Building a Team USA of College Stars

Both are probably gonna be 1st team BIG, both will be 1st round picks. Lavert will be picked most likely ahead of Sam, but unlikely to be a lottery pick. All that garbage you just listed is pretty arbitrary. Some of it is just untrue. He's younger? banghead Who cares? Both are juniors btw.

I have a stupid list too. Sam is bigger, stronger, a better rebounder, commits less turnovers, just as athletic, just as good of a passer, a better shot blocker, just as good a scorer, and is just as young.

I really don't feel like going through this one-by-one, but what is hilarious is you bringing up 'youth' into this argument.  They were in the same class and Sam Dekker is all of three months older than Levert.

Sam Dekker by in large has been the most impressive player at both of the elite camps this summer.  Couple that with a 6-foot-9 and 230 pound frame on a player that can play both inside-and-out.  He averaged 12.5 PPG and six boards in 2013 and was very critical of himself.  That's scary.

Take your assertions elsewhere.  Dekker was more efficient on offense with a higher USG% while LeVert was better on defense.

I feel the same way about Beilein. I absolutely love the guy. He also said on more than one occasion during his first couple years at Michigan, that he hoped to build his team into a program just like Wisconsin, in regards to the annual success. It looks as though he's accomplished that. Michigan will win as long as he's coaching them.

Blueblood's just a little myopic and is a little over the top with Michigan's recent success. He has a lot of "interesting" ideas.... crazy

Ah, maybe that's the problem.  You're apparently not very good at that "thinking" thing.

Re: ESPN Article -- Building a Team USA of College Stars

Dekker has a higher ceiling than LaVert. Is he a better player? Not yet. We certainly hope he will be. Michigan has had a nice run but highly doubt that continues this season, unlike Wisconsin. Dekker will have a very big stage to realize that potential this season. LaVert, not so much. Now, wasn't that simple?

Didn't Lavert have to gain 50 pounds to get to 150 pounds ?
