Bad form, Tubby

Bad form, Tubby

Have you seen the Gophers' lame mocking of UW's post-Michigan locker-room celebration?

Here's hoping they meet again in the Big Ten tourney.

Do we expect anything less from Tubby?  The guy has allowed Trevor Mbakwe to stay on the team through countless legal problems.  The guy kept his son on board after a DUI.  Tubby Smith is trash.

Mbakwe's wrist sure looked OK hoisting him up there. Good to see he's fully recovered from his debilitating injury.

(BTW, I have no problem with this. What goes on in locker rooms probably shouldn't be leaked to the public, but I guess that's just a thing now.)

Re: Bad form, Tubby

This win might jumpstart his team.  Some in the Star Tribune were beginning to call for his scalp.....this is by far his best team...which has not performed well recently.

So perhaps thats reason for celebration......although i still think Tubby and Painter are on the hot seat.   Tubby needs a strong finish or he is through.

Okay, first off, I like Tubby--a lot. I hope he keeps his job. I think he is good for the conference.  I also take the point about what happens in the locker-room staying in the locker-room, except it doesn't always, and in this instance I loved the spontaneity of the Badgers' celebration after that amazing (right word) win at Michigan. Mocking that moment was provocative. I'm just saying Bo ought use it to feed the competive fire when they play again.

What is the world is the big deal?  I'm not so sure this was specifically orchestrated for the purpose of mocking UW or anybody else.  That was a HUGE must win for the Gophers.  Who's to say they weren't celebrating in the same spirit and for the same reason we celebrated after the Michigan game.  It's acceptable for us to celebrate but when the Gophers do it their mocking us. Perhaps I missed something, if there was an accompanying text with that video I didn't read it. My bad if so but as it stands I really don't understand this reaction.

Then you don't know what you're talking about.  Sorry, this one is that simple.

I find it very sad that in the face of an accomplishment (more like a relief in this case) you're more moved to mock others than have a genuine happy moment organically.  Tragic.

On the positive side, for Minnesota, their players actually showed emotion outside of the immediate 10 seconds after a dunk.

This might be the only "dance" they are going to do this season.

What you're missing is the use of the same song (Ke$ha's Die Young) in an attempt to mock us.  The main reason our locker room video got so much publicity over the past week was because of the--um, interesting? bizarre?--song choice.  Minnesota felt it appropriate to poke fun at that.

There is no chance the Gophers' song choice was an accident.  Zero.

Thank you. I should have made that point at the get-go. It was that specific choice of the same song that made it taunting (if not mocking).

Re: Bad form, Tubby

You talk about bad sportmanship  and poor treatment of media from other coaches here was an exchange from the great Bo after the Michigan 45 foot fluke and admit it ,it was a fluke.

DD ; Coach why didn't you foul and not allow them to get off that 3 point Hardaway shot

BR : Here it's easy from where you sit try it sometime from here

DD : I did do it from where you are  not as good but I have been there

BR walks away how dare anyone question BR someone who has never been to a final four, oh wait he has a 16-11 record in the tournament of course he is great in January and February gets good seeds so he almost has a give me in the first round of the tournament.
So in reality his tournament record is 5-11.

Why doesn't Dan Dakich question the Great Tom Crean after a game like that. Wouldn't it have been neat if Dan grilled the Great Tom Crean two minutues after the Illinois loss. "Coach, why was Griffey so wide-open? What were you thinking there?" No way he would have done it. But after Bo WINS the game, Dakich grills him incessantly about something most college coaches, even though I generally disagree with it also. It was just awkward to watch.

You either didn't watch the interview with Dakich or have a very poor sense of sarcasm if you truly thought Bo was being a bad sport there.

I know Dakich didn't call the IU/UI game. It's called a hypothetical. We all know that he wouldn't grill anyone else like that. Not Izzo, Not Tom Terrific Crean The Great and Unquestioned, not Painter. Please.

Man, are you right about anything?  That's one of the bigger loads of condensed BS i've read my life, it barely merits rebuttal.

Ive been thinking about what people are saying hear about the need for class and sportmanship in collage sports and the implications of Minnesotas postgame celebration and I came to one conclusion: Gophers 58, Wisky 53

I also like Tubby a lot.  Because he's a terrible coach.

At least your not a troll that comes over here only after a win. I'll give you that, but, well nevermind, it's just to easy to rip on Minny, not in the mood today.

I like Dakitch but he is beginning to annoy me with his "one way street" coaching mentality at times.  This happened during his explanation of how he thinks the defense must play against the pick and roll.  Lots of ways to skin the cat, and he should know that.  Judge the coach by how consistently he gets his team to execute.  Don't criticize for what you think they should be doing.  I may tolerate that from Bobby K, but not Dakitch.

Considering Dakich said something to the effect that UW not fouling was "the stupidest" thing he'd ever seen, he was lucky Bo didn't tell him to stick it. Dakich should know better, and while I really don't mind him, that sort of insulting hyperbole isn't needed to get your point across unless of course your not smart enough to make your point another way.
