Kevin Looney and Diamond Stone

Kevin Looney and Diamond Stone

Just wondering where Wisconsin is at with the recruiting of Kevin Looney (2014) and Diamond Stone (2015). There is no way that Wisconsin or Marquette can let these 2 top 5 players in their class leave Wisconsin. We already lost JP Tokoto and if they want to compete for National championships they need these 2 guys!

so what do you suggest that UW and PUKEQUETTE do to keep these kids in the state if they don't want to play at either school????

threatened them, use kash, hookers,  drugs, cars, what is your answer?

tmoneylovesguns I was just asking where they were at with recruiting both players no need to be an ass about it? Its not every year that Wisconsin has top 10 talent in state and I would think you would want to go all in on those type of players.

Wisconsin is obviously recruiting both of them. Bo will do everything he can to get them to come to UW, but in the end I'm expecting both of them to go elsewhere. Partially based on what I've heard from some people, partially based on my gut instinct.

Both are top notch players with a keen eye towards their futures. Why would either choose to join the Catholic-7 mid level conference? I even expect to see some of those 2013 recruits bail before this is all over if they can find any D-1 school to play for at this point and time. So, I guess that it's up to the Badgers in the state of Wisconsin.

they went all out for tokoto and did everything within the ruke to get the kid and chose to go play for huckleberry, nothing else they could do about it.

they will go after each of these players and if they want to play at UW they will if they don't they wont. same with every other kid they recruit.

Have a chance with Stone but about a zero chance with Looney.

Of course but most people think Looney will go out of state. We'll be just fine with Ethan Happ who is fairly similar though not as far in the skill department. Probably equally as athletic and both are players with great length.

Good chance with Stone as he is very, very open to play instate and some have suggested that Stones dad is friends with Bo. Also as previously mentioned Stone is Ryan Evans cousin. Ryan has said that Diamond really likes Wisconsin. Stone faced off against Bronson Koenig earlier this year and must have realized how great it would be to team up with BK.

Yup, Koenig is a true point and an awesome passer. Duane Wilson seems more like a shooting guard from what I've seen.

Rumor has it that Looney's hand is out. Probably just a rumor but that is why people figure he will go to Kentucky.

Kinda weak to post that about a high school kid you don't know. Even if it is just a rumor.

Those 2013 kids would have to sit out a year because they already signed there. A coaching change would give them an out, not a conference shake up.

I feel a little better about these two kids. For one thing both are from Wisconsin, JP spent his early years in Illinois and was a North Carolina fan before he even moved here. I think Bo did a great job just to come in second to a kid that never felt a connection to Wisconsin. I haven't heard if Looney has a favorite so at least Wisconsin isn't fighting with that, and Stone seems to be more connected with the state so thats encouraging. I guess we will see, but I feel basketball success this year and next will go along way to show these kids Wisconsin is a serious player.

I think we could play 9 degrees of Ryan Evans.  Isn't he related to somebody on the football team as well?  I've heard his name thrown around a lot being related to people.

Not sure if their 1st or 2nd or anything like that. Evans family is originally from the Midwest and he's had a couple relatives play big ten sports with a couple wrestlers. His Bio would probably tell a bit more in depth.

Re: Kevin Looney and Diamond Stone

Easier  to say UW has a better chance of Landing Diamond than Looney because we have ZERO schollies left for 2014.......ya i know that could change maybe 2 more spots open up for 2014, but truth is right now its 0.
Looney is a potential superstar, love to have him here, but we all know where those types end up.

People in the know have all but said that Duje's redshirt was allowed given that he might go off scholarship to make room for a kid like Looney. I think Looney is the only potential recruit that they'd do it for, though.

Facially and body-wise i think Looney looks a lot like Jamil Wilson...Maybe plays like him too?  Is that a good comparison???

Who leads for Looney?

According to the uwbadgers site Ryan Evans bio: athletic genes run rampant in the family: "His father Greg, was a wrestler at Minnesota; uncle, David, wrestled at Wisconsin; cousin, Glenn Love, plays football at UCLA and cousin Quinn Evans, plays football @ Northwestern....sister, Lauren, plays basketball at Virginia Tech"

I wouldn't say so. More like a Tayshaun Prince type perhaps even a bit more of a guard than Prince. Looney is is more of a 2/3 than he is 3/4. Really good handles and mid range game. Plays on the ball a lot. Jamil Wilson relies more on athleticism than Looney by far who I don't think is overly athletic. Looney has also been compared to Durant cause of how long he is.

Couple things.  UW is ahead of MU for Looney, although I think he goes out of state.  (I think your comparison between Happ and Looney is somewhat funny however.)

It's really early for Stone still.  He's only a sophomore, and who knows where he will end up.  Both UW and MU are pushing hard, and while UW has the Evans connection, at MU he will be playing with his current high school point guard.  How much that means, who knows?

If UW is ahead of MU than I think Looney is gone.  Just dont get a great vibe he is coming to Wisconsin. I have actually heard UW is ahead on Stone too but things can change.  It isnt the Evans angle as much as the Koenig one.  Now this could all be hearsay but word is Stone and Koenig are actually pretty close and Stone likes the idea of playing with a true pg like Koenig.  Who knows if that is true though

I think Happ is extremely underrated but he is not in Looney's ballpark yet.  Would love to see him get there but right now he is a very exciting prospect in his own right

Re: Happ- isn't that almost exactly what i said minus the hyperbole? Very similar body types which is significant because they both have freakish length. As for skill Looney is more advanced clearly. Pretty defined offensive game. Happ is still a bit rough around the edges due to his growth spurt.
