new commit this week

new commit this week

Looks like we will get a new DB on Tuesday. 3* out of S Florida. I have been told he is very impressive, and the person I spoke with thinks he will be this classes S Shelton. Has some decent offers.

Mystery man, huh? wink  Per scout, the following 3* DBs from FL have been offered and have not committed elsewhere:

CBs

Devante Davis, Miami

Von Davis, Mount Dora

Derrick Baity, Tampa

Ronnie Hoggins, Coconut Creek

Terry Howard, Oviedo

Safeties

Jonathan Crawford, Largo

Kaleel Gaines, Frostproof (imagine the fun with this if he comes to Madison!)

Khalid McGee, Miami

Did I miss anyone?

Re: new commit

He is in your list. I heard he is announcing on a radio show, so I dont want to give the name. He earned the scholarship, he earned the right to announce first.

I'll wait tried of getting let down what they go elsewhere or can't make the grade.
Still wondering about the DW situation when it comes to pass hope he rebounds.

Re: new commit this week

CB recruiting in 2014 and 2015 has been pretty lackluster, so if this is true it is a welcomed development.

Re: new commit this week

The only one that excites me from that list is Von Davis.  There is no Shelton in there.

The only players on this list that could rightfully be considered as coming from South Florida are McGee, Hoggins and Devante Davis.

I'm always a bit sceptical of these type of posts. Hope you are right.

Scout lists Barr as a WR and shows Lawrence as committed to Marshall.

SuperBadger: I am also typically skeptical of these kinds of posts (and contemplated if I should even post this). If this was said by some random guy at a 7v7 event, I would not have posted, but it was told to me by a REAL solid source (but not family) who should know exactly what will happen Tuesday. Kind of putting myself of the line for this one. If it doesn't happen, I will admit who my source is and take the ridicule.

Just so we understand... you are willing to rat your source out if the information is incorrect. If the information is correct, then you told us so.  That would really be putting yourself on the line!  Which line?

I'm guessing Hoggins

You would have been better off not starting this topic.

Re: new commit this week

I agree you would be better off not starting this topic if you wanted to respect the kid's desire to announce on radio.

Hoggins will be announcing tomorrow night on the radio per TOS. Coupled with your post, I think we can read between the lines here.

I could have sworn I read he wasn't a take do to grades "at this point".  Needing to clean stuff up this fall.  I guess he can declare, we have seen that before, and still not be accepted by the staff.

Sounds like you might be throwing your source under the bus:

Ronnie Hoggins @ RonnieHogginsJr 5m

My commitment will be pushed back until further notice do to circumstances

It sure seems like we don't have a good track record landing guys that 'tried to commit' but were delayed.

Re: new commit this week

Why anyone who posts on a message board feels the need to beat a high school kid to his announcement is beyond me. Let the kid have his moment. There is plenty of time to discuss afterwards.

Any coincidence we suddenly offered a 2 star from Arizona who has zero major offers? (No inside information, purely speculation)

Don't think so.  We have a lot of options at CB with or without Hoggins.

New Badger recruiting strategy--aim low score high. From penthouse to outhouse offers in 6 months. It was fun to dream.

Since the commitment did not happen, I am back to take my lumps. I have outed my source to the moderators of this board (to clarify, I never wrote that I would out the source to the entire board). Have had tidbits like this in the past, and I finally yielded to temptation and posted since it had been a slow period in recruiting, I still trust this source, but will refrain from posting any recruiting information again.

Since it was my posting (and since I have now done a good job of blowing credibility), I willingly take whatever scorn or **** anyone feels they need to dish out without getting defensive or defending my post.

I assume it didn't happen because Hoggins moved his announcement back (to today, I believe).

You don't have to confirm or deny.

I'm still confused as to why this topic was started. There was clear skepticism from the get-go.
