Greendale OL Jacob Maxwell commited to Northern IL.

That makes another OL leaving the state.

For NIU? Big deal. Good luck to him. If he does well he can come back.

Go back and look at No Ill players over the last 10 years. Where do you think their OL recruits come from? Hint: it's not Illinois

So we should offer every lineman that goes D-1. Yay! We'll have one playing quarterback in 3 years.

P.S. You're annoying.

I got the shotgun....you got the briefcase......all in the game though

Shadows reliably breaking the news yet again of a middling Wisconsin player leaving the state. 3 for 3. Will he break the news of any commits to UW? Probably not since he's not a fan.

Re: Greendale OL Jacob Maxwell commited to Northern IL.

Why aren't these Badger olinemen waiting to camp?  It's just around the corner and they could very well receive offers from GA if they do well.  Worst case scenario they commit to these other schools a couple weeks layer after camping.

I wonder...if the Iowa State and Northern Illinois coaches figure the Wisconsin camp could indeed be competition.  They then exert pressure tactics on the kids to decide fast...something euphemistic like "we'll be re-evaluating our scholarship offers after our camps, and can only guarantee a full ride if you commit now."

Personally, I suspect some coaches use these types of tactics all the time.  Who knows in this case.

It's amazing how easy it is to spot Shadows name, isn't it?

I think it took all of 3 posts. Hahaha.

This is a Badger board, unless he's someone we wanted, why post?  I'm sure there are plenty of WI high school players that go on to play at various lower-level schools.

Wisconsin has two potentially great in state OL commitments in this class.  I don't follow depth charts to the degree that some do but I would think they want at least five o-linemen in this class when all is said and done.  I'm always interested when in state players go elsewhere and especially when they play a positon that UW has made a living recruiting in state talent to fill.  Neither of the players who have commited elsewhere this year were top targets for the Badgers but it is interesting that, as another poster points out, both chose to go elswhere prior to UW's camps.

My guess?? Just naive about the process. I mean come on - who commits to Northern Illinois on the spot in June? Even if you don't think you'll get a Wisconsin offer, why would you be convinced that NIU is as good as it's going to get?

Because they're just not that good?  Shadows trying to make it seem we lost these kids is hilarious.  King of Shrimpdicks.

Any kid that jumps on an NIU offer isn't very sure he can compete in the Big Ten. GA realizes that our talent at O-Line needs upgrading and any kid who does come has to be willing to compete for playing time.

It doesn't matter. Signing day is ways away.  If we wanted them, we'd offer and we'd get them to decommit.  Happens all the time.

It is irritating to see topics like this and the OP (Shadows, apparently) making it sound like we lost out on a player that we didn't offer.

what's almost more irritating is his behavior continues to be accepted on this board by moderators. least they could do is move his threads to some other worthless sub-forum, since that's where crap like this belongs.

As much as he irritates me as well, you want the moderator to censor him for making a factual statement about something that, however remotely, fits on this board?

I don't think that's a fair statement.  There have been plenty of Wisconsin olinemen that weren't offered before camp that turned out to be pretty good.  There have also been a decent number of sleepers (olinemen that UW didn't sign/offer) that went on to have good college careers at other schools.

The bottom line is we don't know.  What eats me is why with camp just a week away, these prospects are committing to other schools when they could have just been a week or two away from a Wisconsin offer noidea

I understand that there are linemen that have left the state without an offer and have turned out to be good players.  This kid may have left camp with an offer.  Who knows.  At this time, though, I don't think it is fair for the OP to insinuate that we lost out on a kid that has yet to be offered.

This would be a pretty small place if that were the policy.

shadows, how many usernames are you on?  What is your obsession with coming here to rip UW?  What is it you are accomplishing since nobody here finds you remotely interesting?

Technically he is correct.  It's barely newsworthy but it is an OL leaving the state.
