How many scholarships does GA have available?

How many scholarships does GA have available?

Does anyone know how many scholarships GA has available?

I thought we had only 12-15 available for this year and it seems like we are over that number already in verbals.

Does this mean they are taking scholarships from kids already in the program?

RE: How many scholarships does GA have available?

No...there has been a sizeable amount of attrition. Add to that 2 or 3 greyshirts in this class. I'd say we will sign 21-22 kids.

RE: How many scholarships does GA have available?

Has anyone put out a definitive list - here are the 9 (I think that's right) guys who graduated, here are the guys who have left the program (with reasons, if known, like redshirt juniors not returning, players who gave up football, players medically unable to perform, players who have transferred to other schools), here are the 2013 recruits whose offers are for greyshirts?  It would be helpful to understand the spots available to be pointed to such a post.

Thanks!

Unfortunately it's not quite that easy:

There were 9 seniors with scholarships. However, 2 of them got a 6th year so only 7 left.
There was one early entrant to the NFL.
There have been a number of scholarship players leave the program. During the season and after that includes: Byers, Fenton, Peprah and McNamara.

That means a total of 12 scholarships open.

Here's where it gets tricky. There were some scholarships handed out early in the season last year because of attrition. Some of them may have been just one-year deals. That's not usual, but it is possible. I'm not counting that one.

Additionally, of the 19 commits, it is believed that 3 of them are Greyshirts (Biegel, Ramesh, Fumaglli). So that's 16 commits for next year.

It gets even trickier. I only had us at 80 scholarships in 2012. I think there were at least a few handed out for one-year as mentioned previously. If those carry over, we will have some scholarship gaps.

80 minus the 12 open equals 68. Plus the 16 commits puts us at 84. I assume Meyer will get a scholarship if not already so that puts us at 85.

We would appear then to be completely full. However, they are still recruiting and handing out scholarships. I think we'll learn between now and signing day that anywhere from 1-4 additional people have left the program for medical and/or self-selection reasons.

Well done in explaining the almost 'impossible.'  Good synopsis.

Re: How many scholarships does GA have available?

I now put us at 87 scholarships with Budmayr off. I'm missing something.

By class:

Sr/RS Sr: 21
Jr/RS Jr: 21
So/RS So: 19
Fr/RS Fr: 26

I excluded Raridon, Ramesh, and Fumagali from this new FR class. I think Raridon is a 3 for 5, but not on scholarship yet.

Some question marks I have.

Is Steffes on scholarship?
DeCicco?
Meyer?

No wish to be annoying, but I think that this numbers question has been covered in many posts and also in more credible newspaper articles and I know I have read that there will be in the twenties and even perhaps the 25 maximum.

I have them with 84 scholarships after JB left. 22 open scholarships for 2014. Expect that number to rise to the full 25 by signing day.

Hmm. We are 3 apart. Without listing the entire list, any thoughts on the 3 that you have as "no scholarship" that I may have listed as "with scholarship?"

And there is likely to be more attrition.  It's a natural occurrence after a change of coaching staffs.  Look for it to happen after spring ball or right before fall camp.  Kids see the writing on the wall by then.  They realize the new coaches are looking for something they can't offer.

No doubt some kids won't 'fit' in GA's program. This is a 25 signee year plus maybe a few greys.

Don't have anything pertinent to add to the subject.. just saying that there is some good debate and information in this thread. Much appreciated.

I don't have to start from scratch on it..

Just because the NCAA granted Phillips a 6th year doesn't mean he'll receive a sixth year on scholarship.  Yes?  No?

Okay, we are consisten except I'm counting the folowing:

Marcus Trotter - on scholarship. He was a 3 for 5 deal and received his last year
Meyer - I'm counting him on scholarship for next year (we scholarship starters) but that may not come true
Zuleger - received a scholarship last year. He might lose it for this year, but he definitely had one for last year.

That would put my list at 20/84 if I backed those 3 out.

10/41 defense scholarships.

20/84 total scholarships.

Left - (1) QB-Budmayr

Okay, we are consisten except I'm counting the folowing:

Marcus Trotter - on scholarship. He was a 3 for 5 deal and received his last year
Meyer - I'm counting him on scholarship for next year (we scholarship starters) but that may not come true
Zuleger - received a scholarship last year. He might lose it for this year, but he definitely had one for last year.

That would put my list at 20/84 if I backed those 3 out.
wow, no one does it better than Bacchus1 and Ramajoti, good work guys!

RE: How many scholarships does GA have available?

No, I didn't count him in my numbers.

Hmm. We are 3 apart. Without listing the entire list, any thoughts on the 3 that you have as "no scholarship" that I may have listed as "with scholarship?"
I count them at 85 with 20 open for 2014.  noidea
There are 21 scholarship seniors. Zuleger was put on scholarship last year. Did you count him? One year deal?
