Northern Iowa played us close in a game too. I'm not saying the staff doesn't look good, can't coach, or isn't likely to succeed. I'm just saying the player development will be a very important thing to watch going forward. A completely innocuous observation.

They're all raw compared to starters at this level of play. Very few players come in polished and ready to play at the college level the few that do are anamolies. At this point what your hoping with incoming players is that they have the physical talent to contribute. He has the speed it might take him a year or two to put on some weight to be able to hold up at corner but maybe they're thinking of him as a slot receiver for which we really have no one that fits the mold. |

One of my biggest concerns about twitter is not always the content, but the grammar. Seriously. When you consider the fact this kid is coming to the UNIVERSITY of Wisconsin to go to school, you'd hope he could spell 'curtains' and 'where'
However spelling is universally poor in the US and especially on twitter.. you see so many pro athletes spelling things horribly it's almost unbearable. Pretty strange if you ask me.

I like the fact that he was all-scholastic. I like the fact that in his interviews he never failed to mention his blockers.
His tweets are highly entertaining. My favorite:
"My sophistication makes me bored with you lames."
Seems like his HS assistant coach was his advocate and reached out to UW. Looks like there is plenty to work with -- I hope that our coaches will rise to the occasion.

Gotta be honest. I usually don't put a whole lot into a 17-18 year old's twitter feed, but that is not a good sign. Agree with the comment about Appleton 2.0. Hope this kid isn't really that. He needs to delete that account.  "I'm a Badger for life, but I believe right now my heart lies heavily with the Badger family, not the NFL."

I care. I care how my university is represented. And this isn't the type of display of attitude and intellectual capacity that I'd like to see from a represenative of the university. Stuff that would have prevented me from getting my job if it had been online. You need to remember what awful judgment kids have at this age. Really and truly awful. It doesn't make him a bad guy. Are we just supposed to limit our search to guys who run a 4.4 AND have a clean and grammatically correct twitter account? That gets pretty tough. |
