Marcus Ball
Dave Heller @ dave_heller @ d_glatt @ WiscoSportsNut ESPN story says free safety. Says ASU has an open spot there and Ball says he could make an immediate impact Dave Heller @ dave_heller FYI, Marcus Ball says his final three are Wisconsin, Tennessee and Arizona State. Staying close to home (Ohio) obv not a factor. # badgers Dave Heller @ dave_heller Marcus Ball still committed to # badgers . Tells ESPN wouldn't de-commit (if at all) until meets w/GA. ASU recruiter is DelVaughn Alexander I am not a sucriber so I can't read the ESPN article

Re: Marcus Ball
Hopefully having his brother here gives UW some sort of advantage.

Re: Marcus Ball
The article doesn't say much more than those tweets. Expects to meet with Andersen this week. Also says there's an opportunity for early playing time at ASU, but that's no different than UW.

RE: Marcus Ball
Would be interesting to know if he reached out to ASU or if DelVaughn Alexander went after him. IMO he didn't do much for Wis recruiting-wise yet is able to get Ball to visit.!?!!

RE: Marcus Ball
If Ball wants to play in the desert best of luck to him, but I think he'll be a Badger where we have a major need for him and his parents can see both kids at once. Also, GA seems to be making very good first impressions.

Hope he ends the speculation - could be a special player in our secondary.
Go Badgers! On Wisconsin!

Article on Marcus Ball
The article is primarily about his contribution to Westerville South's 9-4 overall record so far this season. Here is a snippet of the most football/recruiting related content.
http://www.thisweeknews.com/co...stat-sheet.html
...Ball was heavily recruited to play football and has verbally committed to the University of Wisconsin, where his brother, Ray, is a redshirt freshman offensive lineman. Since Marcus Ball's verbal commitment, Badgers coach Bret Bielema resigned and became the coach at Arkansas. Ball said he remains committed to Wisconsin and hopes to meet new coach Gary Andersen soon.
Calo believes Ball also could play basketball at the collegiate level, and Ball said he has been considering walking on as a basketball player at Wisconsin. South graduate Traevon Jackson is a sophomore guard on the team.
Ray Ball attended the South-North basketball game.
"It's awesome," he said of his brother verbally committing to Wisconsin. "The fact that he chose us out of all the schools that he had, it's just absolutely amazing."...

pilprin wrote: It would be cool to have him walkon for BB! Not sure I agree with cool. Being a two sport player at the college level is very hard and becoming harder all the time. Once in a while there is somebody that can manage it, but it tough, both from a physical standpoint and from an academic/mental standpoint. Guys come into college thinking it can happen because they did it very, very well in high school and then suddenly discover that the work load is much, much more than they experienced prior to college. Think of this year. the football team got back from the RB the first week of January. What week of the basketball season was that? Yes, pretty deep into the season when you consider when practice started. You cannot hold a roster spot open for a kid because you need that person to be a part of the practice team. So now you get a kid back from the bowl, do you kick another walk-on off, a kid that has been working hard since fall, a kid that knows what you want as a coach? Also, post RB, there might have been a down week for the football players but S&C started right back up for many. If I was a secondary player for UW right now, trust me, I would be seeing at least 200 balls a day from the Jugs gun and working very hard to improve my speed and strength because playing time is up for grabs and its the work you do right now that will get you noticed in spring practice. While the kid may be able to help the BB team in some way, if football is his scholarship and his future (if NFL is in his dreams) he will need to focus... Go Badgers

Him being invited to walkon for BO could lock him in as a solid football verbal at SS.

Kyle Parker, Tom Zbikowski, Kenny Lofton, Antwaan Randal El, and pretty much any college backup to the Manning brothers went pro in the MLB.

Pretty sure Donald Hayes played part of a season.
