Alec James

Posted: 12/25/2012 10:24 PM

Alec James

If UW loses Alec James I hope they offer 2 DEs that are on the Utah prospect list 4 star DE Joe Mathis (6-4, 255, 4.69) and 3 star DE Austin Hooper (6-4, 247).

UW could still go after 4 star A.J Natter (6-6, 230).  So even though it would be disappointing if James de-commits there are options and one player won't make or break this recruiting class.

So no matter what happens James I hope fans can be supportive and positive to James and the coaches.

Well he hasn't decommited yet and he still has to talk to GA.  Honestly if he decommits after talking to GA knowing what kind of system he runs, then I doubt he ever would have signed in the first place.  You gotta wish the kid the best because he's got to do what is best for him, but it sure seems like that would be at Wisconsin considering the recent turn of events.

Interesting to think about......but back to reality now: James is not going anywhere but Madison. rumors are he's sold on GA, and has been locked down (just as I predicted). All further attempts to try and steal away our top 2013 guys just came to a swift and conclusive end. UW is now on the offensive going after a couple key BYU/Utah recruits now.

What BYU/Utah recruits are they going after?  If you don't know names what positions?   How many recruits will be in the 2013 class?  I believe they currently have 16 commits and 2 Grey Shirts (Ramesh, Biegel).

I believe one is Sam Tevi along with his high school teamate.  They look like a couple of stud DE's.  Joe Mathis appears to be another one.  He is probably a long shot but Coach Chad has been recruiting him and Utah is one of the only schools he took an official too.  That's 3 DE studs and if he could flip just one of them it would be awesome.

What did you hear about James being solid?  I hadn't seen it being reported that he talked to Coach Andersen yet.  Very awesome if true.

Not sure where you hear your rumors. This ultimately may end up being the case, but as of right now you may want to get better sources.

Same here.  Haven't heard anything, but I hope what Oscoe said is true.  Where did you hear this, Oscoe?

Re: Alec James

That poster is just making stuff up. Alec's is scheduled for two official visits in Jan. at other schools.

Alec's and Marcus Ball have not been contacted by the new coach yet. I will not name the source of that information, but it was stated as such.

Sconnie, arent you the same clueless poster that claimed Coach A had not contacted ANY recruits yet, only to be proved completely WRONG about five mins later by multiple tweets saying how much they LOVED the new coach?

That is what I thought. Be sure to let me know the next time you actually post something true because it will be a first for you.

There was no evidence of communication prior to that post. The evidence didn't come until AFTER the post was made. You should do a better job of learning and reading comprehension.

The information I have about the non-communication between the new coach and Alec's and Marcus is from a person that speaks to them directly about their latest recruiting information and both said they were not contacted yet. I will not name the source though.

Re: Alec James

I highly doubt that neither James nor Ball has not been contacted. They were likely to have been amoung the first ones to have been contacted.

Now then, whether or not GA was able to speak to them in person is another question. Maybe those two have been too busy setting up visits to other schools?

Marcus Ball visits TN on 1/11 and MSU on 1/18. In an article that was written it was stated there has been no communication yet. James visits MSU on 1/18 and I'm not sure on the date for the Oregon visit.

Re: Alec James

So if you call the guy and he is not around or does not answer, there is no communication, because, of course, it takes at least two to communicate.

James has already visited Oregon, and has been offered by them.

No, Oregon visited the high school. James is heading out to Oregon in Jan. Coach Kelly usually doesn't bring committed players on official visits, so there has to be something here for this visit to be taking place.

Re: Alec James

It is not relevant to me if they came here or James went there, or is planning to go there. I also do not doubt that there might be something here. Considering the whole of the James recruitment, it is highly likely for that visit. Was Oregon not his dream school?

And while he is visiting Oregon, GA and Coach Chad should be visiting Mathis. (Sp)

Don't forget Oregon likely will be going through a coaching change in the next two weeks as well.

It's not relevant to you whether he went there or they came to his school??  Doesn't it show a much greater level of interest on his part if he hopped on a plane and spent a weekend in Oregon vs. spending 10 minutes talking to an assistant coach during study hall?

Re: Alec James

Bottom line is that he received an offer from Oregon. Comments that James had no communication, or was not contacted by GA makes our coaching staff look bad. From what we have all seen from GA, it would have been completely unlike him not to have contacted James. Comment from James that he did not know much about GA shows little enthusiasm for our program, unlike the majority of commits. Looks to me like he is looking for a better deal for himself. We all have wanted him to be a Badger.

I thought that GA's strategy was to talkt to the recruits first who appeares to be waivering get them to help work on the others. Thought that I read that in a prior post. It would seem contrary that he wouldn't have contacted Ball or James.

I can't imagine that these conversations are 6 hour affairs, where he can only conduct 3 a day.

I'd guess that everyone has been contacted by now.

Not to worry, i would expect coach A will complete his calls to all recruits through the course of this week.
And I'm sure 'sconnies' "source" will let him know when that has happened, and then sconnie will let us know....pirate.

IDK, everyone in the Lake Country area I've heard or read makes it seem like James is solid still, and you kind of get that feel from Obasih there.

Mainly I'm worried about Marcus Ball.  Seems to me that James just wants to take a visit out to Oregon and why not?  Doesn't seem all that serious to me.
