McAvoy

McAvoy

Obviously he is not the answer.

It is clear the Badgers do NOT have a capable quarterback.

Very depressing.

While McEvoy hasn't been even adequate by any stretch of the imagination...the fact that our WRs cannot gain any separation doesn't help things
JJ Watt knows what you want for Christmas but is going to get you a Chilis gift card anyways.

8/24 for 50 yards and 2 Int's

It was CP all over again, cost us the game, up 24-7 and couldn't complete a 10 yard pass to save our lives, pathetic. I would rather have DJ back there then what I seen tonight, no way in hell could be any worse then that sh1t.

Bo Ryan's offense is officially dead and has been figured out by the B1G. The only way he can continue to coach it is if he significantly upgrades the players.-George2k5

Re: McAvoy

He got them one first down with his feet.  This guy is not a big time major conference QB.  Yes the receivers can't get separation, but his passes are awful.  He doesn't buy time in the pocket either.  Instead he just takes one look and then looks to run.

I'll take Stave any day.

Re: McAvoy

Don't forget they have to shorten the play book for McEvoy too. Stave needs to be the QB. His problems are correctable.

Re: McAvoy

He has not thrown the ball well enough to have the WR's even be a factor. He just threw up for grabs all game long. That was what every one said that went to the scrimmages and practices. I went to the scrimmage and he was just as bad in that one. He has no concept of how to throw the football. I mean his play was just awful he gave the game to LSU.

Re: McAvoy

Is it possible that Stave has an unreleased injury or has an undisclosed disciplinary issue?

Makes more sense to me than some of the decisions I saw tonight.

Stave deserves to play after this game and based on past experience!!!

Stave played better vs Nebraska on the road in his second game than McEvoy did tonight. Just saying.

Wait, has Stave beaten LSU?  I recall his last game against and SEC team.

Re: McAvoy

One problem is that Ludwig failed to take advantage of TM's one advantage over Stave -- his running ability. We caught a glimpse or two in the first half and virtually NOTHING in the second. No QB draw. Very few rollouts. One option play, I think. I mean if you're going to play TM, isn't that what you should be doing?

The TEs seemed to get open.  CB is LSU's greatest strength so why would we expect our WRs to get much separation?  This is a QB development and evaluation issue and an offensive game planning and playcalling problem.

Re: 8/24 for 50 yards and 2 Int's

I'll say what I said last year -- Stave is no marksman -- but fans don't realize how inaccurate a lot of college QBs are.  You got a look at one example tonight.

Our holes are HUGE

No WRs as most feared. TGP tried to sell us that they were better than expected but that was pathetic. Also our TEs have gone from great to good to shitty. Defense was good till we lost 2/3 of the DL. Hope they are back soon. Clement is just OK at RB. Not much better than last year if at all. Why no MG3 in 2nd half????????????????????????????????? One of our few guys that could actually make a play. But we do have a FG kicker and we are going to need him. Team has more holes than a good Swiss. We can beat some bad teams but it will be tough to do much with the better ones.

And people thought Tanner could throw with Stave, not a chance in hell, besides CP this was the worst QB performance I have seen in a long time

Completely agree. Tanner can't throw a pass. That's pretty obvious, but he can run. How are there not designed plays to play to his strength? Makes no sense.

Our abject failure to field a decent QB and some WRs is just stunning. And none is on the immediate horizon.

Re: 8/24 for 50 yards and 2 Int's

Not sure that this is on McEvoy as I didn't understand the play calling when we had the lead. Thought that they would roll him out more with more run or throw options when they wanted to throw on early downs. With that said, the way they called plays, they had the wrong qb.

Re: McAvoy

The next time he steps into a throw and delivers it with authority and accuracy will be the first time.

He has zero pocket presence or awareness, something Stave has had from day one.  He doesn't use his athleticism to buy time in the pocket either,  Once he starts moving around, his eyes never look downfield.

Hard to believe the staff picked him as starter.

Bulk him up and put him on the DL.

What you're looking at is roughly what a Stave stat line would've been last year without Abbrederis and Pedersen. It's near impossible to complete passes to receivers who aren't open.

Our old coach was too busy writing love letters to the Arkansas AD to recruit either position well. On the plus side it looks like Gary is in the process of upgrading both areas. Sadly it'll take two or three years to work itself out.

Pretty hard to believe how McEvoy ever completed 2/3 of his passes at any level.

If this were the NFL, you could sign a couple of free agent D-Linemen to improve your depth. But the Badgers are in trouble at DT.
