Trouble Brewing

Trouble Brewing

In South Bend.

Strong reports of academic and...personal... misconduct for multiple players, including starters.
Expulsions, not suspensions this time.

Gee, a program coached by Brian Kelly in trouble?  Who would have thought that could happen?

Never one to cheer for ND here but this will have little to no bearing on us or on our recruiting, even head-to-head.

Meh.  NBC will probably extend their contract anyway.  Agree on Kelly.  He and Dantonio have the most punchable faces in the NCAA.

Notre Dame has become so pathetic it's really not even funny anymore.. why can't they just get that program on track? Oh yeah cuz they keep hiring morons for coaches..

Led by coach Gary Andersen, it is mathematically impossible for the Wisconsin Badgers not to win a National Championship

Crap like this really hurts CFB. But so long as ND was not complicit and kicks them out damage to CFB will be minimal.

After covering up a rape that led to suicide two years ago there might be just a little pressure for them to take a stand.

Don't stop there.  Letting a kid fall to his death so they could record a practice didn't seem to hurt CFB too badly.

ND was suicide. I do not think the MO cover up ended that way but still a cover up.

No.  That was Notre Dame.  Prince Shembo was the player if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Trouble Brewing

Now that Notre Dame is no longer really "independent", a lot of the mystique will start to fade anyway, if there was much left....playing an ACC schedule further takes away from any history they could cling to""...........................also, it's always been laughable to me that they thought they compared with Stanford and Northwestern from a student-athlete perspective....always been a notable difference in character/ quality at the other two.

Missouri had their own cover up which also led to a suicide of one of their swimmers who was raped by members of the football team.

Re: Trouble Brewing

There was no cover up of a rape, since no rape occurred (nor was alleged to have occurred). If you're going to post about stuff like this, you really need to get your facts straight.

Lizzy Seeberg accused Prince Shembo of sexually assaulting her. She supplied the University police with an affadvit attesting to that fact. After 10 days where the police department refused to investigate the claim she killed herself. Her death made it impossible for Shembo to be prosecuted if the police ever decided to investigate. For months after her suicide the University refused to even acknowledge that she had even made the accusation. Shembo himself told the reporters at the combine that he was forbidden by the University from ever discussing the situation while he was affiliated with the University. Seems pretty clear to me.

He fondled her breast (according to Miss Seeberg). He did not rape her, nor did she accuse him of raping her. As I said, you need to get your facts straight if you're going to comment on such matters. By the way, I'm not defending Shembo in any way, but you stated something that was factually inaccurate.

Be careful, TGP and PH will try to spin that into you condoning sexual assault while putting words in your mouth for that.

Re: Trouble Brewing

I didn't say that he raped her. I said that he sexually assaulted her. Apparently you're the only adult I've ever met that doesn't understand that you don't have to be raped to be sexually assaulted. Grabbing and sucking on a woman's breast against her will is indeed sexual assault under Indiana law. For someone who demands others get their facts straight I'd suggest that you get a clue first because you're making a fool of yourself.

Apparently, you're the only adult who doesn't realize that you responded to my post where I directly challenged the original poster's erroneous statement that Shembo raped Miss Seeberg. In your response, you made absolutely no attempt whatsoever to clarify what actually occurred (and to refute the false allegation of rape, likely because you weren't acquainted with the actual facts). By the way, are you aware of any facts related to Shembo's prosecution in Indiana?

If you don't understand what you were responding to, perhaps you should read more thoroughly next time before you offer a reply.

Apparently you are not aware that penetration is not a prerequisite for rape in all jurisdictions.

Re: Trouble Brewing

How could I be aware of the details of the prosecution when the DA refused to bring charges because the victim and the only witness was dead? You sound like a bad joke. How about you just apologize for going off half cocked accusing someone else of not knowing the facts when indeed I know more about it than you apparently. I could have said Shembo raped the young girl but because words have meanings I said he sexually assaulted her which is the correct term for what she accused him of doing. Just because you aren't sharp enough to understand plain english isn't my problem. Every single damn thing I've said in this whole f-ing thread was factually accurate even if your too stubborn/stupid to admit it.

FWIW all the sordid details of the case are out there. A simple google search will turn up dozens of news articles on the whole sad affair with quotes from school officals, law enforcement, the victims family, the accused player, the victims therapist, her friends, etc.
