LSU vs. UW

LSU vs. UW

I'm predicting LSU will cruise to a 17-point victory, following a tough first half. But if Madison somehow wins, do you think Badger fans would storm the field? Since it's a neutral site, I wasn't sure of the proprer etiquete. Any thoughts? Good luck! See you in Texas!

no way would we storm the field.  it will not be that big of a win, frankly.  LSU isn't even top ten this year.  Many expect us to win.  It would be a great win to start the season, but certainly not worth of a field storming, particularly when it is not even our home stadium.

Since the Michigan incident, have we stormed Camp Randall? Have we ever stormed the field after a bowl victory?

OSU, October 2010. Of course, OSU was ranked #1 for that game.

Then a few weeks later vs. Northwestern for the B1G title.

I don't think there have been any since then, nor can I imagine it would happen in Houston if we beat LSU.

I thought I remembered one but wasn't sure if my memory was just confused with the Michigan tragedy. Thanks, OB.

Absolutely not, why on earth would you think that?

I predict a slow start by the Badgers. I think we might be down by double digits at half.

I think we may get a break in the 2nd half and start adjusting to the speed/toughness of the game better to make it closer in the 2nd.

We have a ton of question marks and they are going to run their AP-like frosh with that veteran OL against our new front 7.

Gonna be a fun challenge- looking forward to it

I'm hoping our OLine takes it hard at our D front during camp. The D needs to be already toughened up before that game for us to have a chance, IMO.  The youngsters need to be vets when they get on the field.

Did we storm the field after OSU in 2003?

I wasn't born in Wisconsin, but I got here as soon as I could.

I'm not predicting a win, but Wisconsin is ranked higher than LSU in a couple, if not a few, different preseason publications.  Why would Badgers fans storm the field at a neutral site?  Why would Badger fans storm the field after defeating a team that many writers feel are pretty even going into 2014?

1. It's hilarious how people keep picking us to lose by more than ten, despite the fact that we haven't done so since 2009.  It's bound to happen at some point, but after the last few years, it seems like a terrible bet to make.

2. No, you don't storm the field after a neutral-site game.  If teams don't do it for the Rose Bowl or national championship, they certainly aren't gonna do it for an opener.

3.  The 2010 OSU game was the first field storm since the Crush.  I remember it clearly because I was in the second row of the student section, and after Pryor threw that last pick, there was a noticeable tension among those of us who knew about the crush.  It was clear people wanted to rush, but the PA was yelling not to (or you'd be arrested), and security was everywhere.  The result was a mass of people descending towards the bottom with nobody leaving.  A couple of people tried to run and they were tackled, but one or two got by them.  At that moment, security realized they couldn't stop everyone and rightfully let the students through.  I got out there pretty quickly and got to congratulate a few of our best players (Lance Kendricks, Aaron Henry, and Kevin Zeitler).  It's definitely something I'll never forget.

Given LSU's lack of experience at QB and WR they may not score more than 17 points total.

While I'll be rooting hard for the Badgers, I wouldn't be at all surprised by a 17-point loss. Too many questions on D, at QB and WR. And while LSU is young at QB and RB, the frosh RB is supposed to be a real stud and we all know they'll all be athletes.

And their QB is a bigger ? than ours...the LSU D is ALWAYS good...the offense isn't always good.

Re: LSU vs. UW

Their performance against Iowa in the bowl game gave me some hope.  Also, I don't have their margin of victory stats, but it's my perception that even though they win a lot of games, they tend to not blow people out as much as you'd expect for an elite program.

Re: LSU vs. UW

I would hope we don't storm.

But the SEC and the media would have you believe we are not even on the same level at the SEC.  Some UW fans will see that and if we win, will think it is an incredible victory and charge, i guess.  The average UW fan will think that is nice win and act accordingly.

Yep, I was in the front row for that game. Which is actually sort of a disadvantage because the front row largely stood on the concrete right behind the fence as opposed to the bleachers that the rest of the students stand on. This meant the fence was about chest-high on the front row. People behind us began to launch themselves over us via the bleachers once the game ended. People actually got angry at us for being unable to move as a result of security trying to push back and students crushing forward making the straight vertical climb over a 4 foot fence difficult due to opposing forces. Kind of ruined the happy moment a bit, thought I might break my leg when it got caught between the fence and the students pushing forward. Luckily at that point security stopped pushing back and instead yelled at the people piling forward to let the front row over. Covered in a story here. Great night though. I was incredibly fortunate to be able to charge both the football field and basketball court multiple times in my student career.

As for the OP... I would be shocked if UW lost by 17. Really disappointed. It's not impossible, but the Badgers have played better teams to closer margins over a few years now. Fully expect it to be a competitive game. Wouldn't even rush the field if it was a home game for us

Yep. And if their frosh QB panics under pressure and throws a couple of picks, it may even get ugly for Le Tigers.

Are you serious about this question?  UW has won Rose Bowls and such, which are much bigger wins than some early season matchup with LSU.  Why would you think we'd storm the field if we won?  Would LSU storm the field if they beat us?  noidea

He's not being serious.

If it had been asked by George2k5 everyone would have instantly seen the "question" for what it was.

While it would be a very solid opening win I don't think that most badger fans would equate beating Baton Rouge with a victory over the type of true national power that might lead to rushing the field.

Re: LSU vs. UW

Even if LSU's offense has question marks on Offense, I think that our defense is very unproven and will have problems keeping LSU under 24 points.

I am hopeful that the Badgers can find some type of passing attack to keep the game close.

Since I am a Badger fan, I have to go with the Badgers 34          LSU 31

Buga is an incredibly talented running back.  Everyone from the high school level to Adrian Peterson and Peyton Manning have noted how special he is.  However, I have seen a lot of LSU fans saying that Fournette will not see the majority of the carries - at least in this first game.  Wisconsin should be equally wary about Magee and Hilliard - both pretty productive backs behind Jeremy Hill in 2013.

Largely unproven as full-time starters, yes, but five of the projected starting front seven have starting experience and plenty of meaningful game experience in Aranda's scheme.  Couple that with three starters returning starters in the secondary and I may be feeling better (short of good) about the defense than most here.

As long as Wisconsin limits big plays on the ground, this will be a close game throughout because I don't have much confidence in Harris/Jennings through the air.

This is pretty much how I expect it to go.  Final score will end up being close however, something like 31-27, with LSU holding on for the win.

The run game will be the key.  Being productive against the LSU defense, and slowing down the LSU RBs.
