The University of Wisconsin is set to hire Utah State's Gary Andersen as the Badgers' next football coach.
A source close to the football program told the State Journal on Tuesday night it is a done deal: Andersen is UW athletic director Barry Alvarez's choice to succeed Bret Bielema, who left to become the head coach at Arkansas. |

I wanted Tucker but I like Andersen a lot too, think hes a damn good coach and a hell of a motivator and will have great success at Wisconsin.
Bo Ryan's offense is officially dead and has been figured out by the B1G. The only way he can continue to coach it is if he significantly upgrades the players.-George2k5 |

I think almost everyone will be happy with this hire if true. This coach appears to be the real deal and potentially a big improvement over Biff: mature, proven leader, strong staff (very impressive staff at USU), strong recruiter and a passionate and polished speaker.

All signs pointed to a head coach getting hired with his own staff. That is why it was Tucker. Tucker will be unemployed in 2 weeks though, maybe DC?

USU's DC Dave Aranda turned down DC offers from Cal and Texas Tech recently - had to know this day was coming. I'm guessing he's the new DC at Wisconsin.

I found the following interesting tidbit from his old bio from his days at Utah.
"Andersen is also considered one of the best recruiters in the nation. He was named as the nation's No. 1 non-BCS recruiter in 2005 by **********. He was cited as a ********** Top 10 non-BCS recruiter in 2008."
