Added - I put it as rumored for now - not meant as a slight, just couldn't find a link beyond one saying a job was offered.

Only bit of information I might add is that BA has completely removed any question about whether or not a certain position exists. It does:   BA is the HMFIC and that can be regarded as confirmed.

Yeah - there are about a million hits on any number of obviously untrue moves - but I do a google news search for Mark Taurisani arkansas and it returns literally one page. But I figure there's not shortage of speculation & people believing just about every rumor imaginable (the word "sources" no longer mean anything to me), so I figured for this I'll set a fairly bar. Of course the funny thing is, even if there's a picture of somebody wearing a team hat, it could still change. Or does that only happen to Pitt? biggrin

Thanks. Noticed that Arkansas has an official announcement for Hauser as well. Still not seeing one for Buh though.

Good morning !

I didn't see on your tracking sheet anything about a Strength & Conditioning Coach, would that be another position that Bielema would want the guy he's familiar with or maybe have someone else in mind ?  I know Jason Veltkamp, the S & C Coach under Petrino just took another job so it's another opening on the Arkansas Staff.  Thanks.

I added in the Strength & Conditioning staff listed in the UW Fact Book (along with Peter Weiden & Henry Mason). John Dettmann wasn't actually listed there, but I added him as well.

I don't know enough to speculate on the chances of any of those guys leaving. Dettmann has been with the program for over 20 years & Herbert obviously played here & has been here for a decade already. He was promoted to the Head Strength & Conditioning coach in 2009 (when Dettmann moved up to manage the program overall).

This is much easier to take than another good coach joining Bert.  Buh deserved this promotion and will do a great job at Cal.

Thus, it is confirmed. Those national guys usually only report a hiring if it is official.

Updated to note rumor/speculation that Hammock and Strickland will likely be retained, possibly Hammock and noted the possibility of a Canada return.

Now that Wells is staying as head man at  Utah State, how fast will Anderson move on an OC? Canada? Hammock?

Not sure how things will go with Canada. The guy sure sounded like somebody who was unhappy to be leaving here. But whether it's possible/practical, we'll have to wait & see. If it's not Canada, then it'll probably take some time & may well slow everything down. QB coach is the sticking point - Wells, Canada & Chyrst before him were all OC's who also coached QBs. There's probably arguments both ways as to whether Hammock is the right guy for OC & play calling here - but I don't know that there's been anyone arguing that he could mange the QBs as well - just doesn't have the background for that right now. We haven't had a separate QB coach for awhile - back to Barry's last season in 2005 when Jeff Horton did it. But a separate guy for that spot makes for a numbers crunch elsewhere.

Bumping my own post (what a loser).

I've updated the chart so it includes both 2012 and 2013 assistants. Please post any new info and I'll add it.

You're right, I've updated it to add Kauhaahaa at DL. Aranda did coach the DL at Utah State, so wasn't wrong there - but he won't be handling them here.

Re: Comprehensive Assistants Tracker

If this list holds true - with separate corner & safety coaches and LB and DL being separate coaches (not handled by the DC, plus a TE coach (not every team has one) we're locked into having an OC who also coaches either QB, WR or RB in order to stay at 9.

Learned today during BB's teleconference that Herbert was already gone when BB left. Why it took so long to announce that is beyond me.

Putting the 24 hour take it or leave it on Canada seems a bit beneath DD. Especially if they worked together before. DD must have been concerned we were going to get the kind of coach Canada would like to work with and he really wanted to stay in Madison.

Wonder if maybe his second choice was on some sort of timeline as well - maybe he wanted Canada but if he couldn't get Canada the next guy had a small window where he'd be available.

Otherwise - yeah, gotta figure that's not a great way to get off on the right foot working together. Canada really sounded unhappy about it in his public comments.
