What is the love fest with Tucker? He looks to have been about # 5 on the list of candidates.

I don't get it, although understand that he's got ties to UW and the Midwest.

He better get some assistants fast who can go out and recruit starting today. We've lost every quality assistant (assuming Hammock is gone) and are losing recruits.

Yup. My big fear is that he's been out of college for a while.

Met with Tucker for an interview or hired Tucker? Big difference.  I would love Tucker as our coach, but I'm not believing anything unless it is from the man himself.

Wisconsin for life, B1G forever.

Any link?  "Met with" is not the same as "hired."  I would like to interpret what was actually reported myself rather than rely on an internet message board poster's interpretation.

I have heard enough from people on CBS like Seth Davis to know how reliable they are.

They had a guy on talking about the Jacksonville game and he stated, "University of Wisconsin officials met with Mr. Tucker this week."

We now know they are after Tucker. If Tucker would accept the job is something we do not know and may not know for at least three more days....might be longer.

Too many rumors going around for me to take this as credible without a link...and even then...
JJ Watt knows what you want for Christmas but is going to get you a Chilis gift card anyways.

Is this really new news?  Or is it new that UW officials met with Tucker this week as opposed to last week?

He's #1 on my list. Has been.

- Former UW player
- Assistant under Saban at MSU and LSU
- Assistant under Tressel at OSU
- Great college experience
- Grew up in Ohio - can recruit Ohio and midwest
- NFL experience
- DC and Interim Head Coach experience in NFL
- Young

Love this candidate.

The news is that Tucker is the top target. Tucker might be looking for the head coaching job for the Jags at the end of the season. So this could get dragged out for a while or it could be done soon.

What we can't do is wait around 3 weeks into the NFL off season waiting to see if Tucker gets an NFL HC job or not.

Let's assume for a second that Tucker is our next Head Coach.  It had been my hope that he could step in and retain a significant portion of the staff.  At this point, best case is for Hammock, Miller and Strickland to remain.  Assuming all three stay on, and assuming no BCS lateral moves, who comes in as coordinators and position coaches.

I know, getting ahead of myself, but, what's another 40 page thread?

Tucker has many connections in the NFL as well as CFB.

I just would hate to wait until the season is done to announce him...if he is the guy. Maybe he could do the split duty thing since it is the dead period soon.

Maybe Hammock is the OC...in this scenario.

Is Eddie Faulkner gone?  I haven't seen his named mentioned with remaining coaches.

How about the fact that everyone whose worked for him has thought highly of him and  he's thought to be a future NFL coach. Terrific defensive mind. He's young and a Badger. The only real mistake Barry has made in this search has been stating his preference for a HC. Tucker could do big things here.

On Wisconsin!

Re: BREAKNG NEWS...UW officials met with Tucker this week

Looking over the Jaguars staff, the following 4 names (specifically the first two) seem to have a connection to Tucker. Thus, in my opinion, could be a part of his first ever staff when/if he becomes a head coach someday (at any level)

Brandon
Blaney
- current defensive assistant with Jacksonville

coached with Tucker at Ohio State in 2001, OLine/TE/recruiting coordinator at University of Kansas for several years before coming to the NFL

Bobby Johnson- current tight ends coach with Jacksonville

Coached with Tucker at Miami (OH) in 1999, Oline coach at Indiana for several years before coming to the NFL (3 years in NFL) *not the former Vandy coach

Marlon McCree-assistant secondary coach

First year assistant breaking into the ranks. Former NFL player with the Jaguars, went to college at Kentucky, from Orlando, Florida

Paul Spicer- assistant defensive line coach

First year assistant breaking into the ranks. Former NFL player with the Jaguars, played college in small school Illinios and Michigan, from Indianapolis
