Re: Ash to Arkansas it seems
Story says BB wants Ash, it doesn't say he is going. He also could go to NC State. http://host.madison.com/sports...1a4bcf887a.html

Who would be a bigger loss, Ash or Partridge?

RE: Ash to Arkansas it seems
I believe Ash would be. He is a good recruiter and calls the defense. And has a great deal of experience working with DBs which is the least experienced group on the team in 2013.

In terms of keeping our recruiting class together, Partridge would be a way bigger loss..
Let Ash go
Keep Partridge.
Please.

That's what I hear. If partridge goes, a lot more goes with him than ash.

Not only is Partridge a better recruiter, imho he's a better coach. Keep Partridge at all cost.

Re: Ash to Arkansas it seems
I dont think any of these coaching decisions should be made based the feelings of 3 high schoolers. If they lose a recruit, they lose a recruit. If they make the right hires those guys will be able to replace who is lost.

RE: Ash to Arkansas it seems
Two days ago someone said he was a lock to go to NC State and was recruiting a UW commit to go with him. He may very well be gone, but this thread is simply not true at this time. Edit: Here it is mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=193&f=2560&t=11022212

The Arkansas board rumors suggest Bielema wants Randy Shannon to be his DC.

Ash has proven to be a really good D-Coordinator. I don't want to lose him.

Guys, I didn't say it was a for sure thing yet. "It seems" is a lot different than making a statement of shure fact.

Re: Ash to Arkansas it seems
Misleading title, if nothing else. It didn't "seem" that way from that article...it said someone said BB had asked Ash to go with him. Said nothing of him going. saturdayfootball wrote: Guys, I didn't say it was a for sure thing yet. "It seems" is a lot different than making a statement of shure fact.

Who cares...the new coach decides who stays and goes, at least who he wants to stay or go. Who is to say the new guy won't bring in someone far better.

Kansasspike wrote: Who cares...the new coach decides who stays and goes, at least who he wants to stay or go. Who is to say the new guy won't bring in someone far better. Exactly. Right now, the assistants all are looking for jobs, I'm sure, unless they are stupid. There will be turnover, but no one on any staff is irreplaceable.

Didn't know you had to ask anyone before you sell your home. You bring as little value to this board as any poster I've seen. Yes, we're going to lose assistants. But your input is worthless on the subject.

Re: Ash to Arkansas it seems
Barry will impress upon the new coach how important several of the assistants are to continued recruiting success.
We can't afford to lose Partridge, Hammock, Buh, Miller, Faulkner, and maybe even Strickland, unless the new guy brings in some heavy hitters. As AD, you don't want to force assistants on the new HC, but in this case some have to stay.
I could lose Ash and not lose any sleep.

Strickland has been involved in some of our top recruits, I am not sure the other former GA has any contributed anything yet. badgerman27 wrote: Barry will impress upon the new coach how important several of the assistants are to continued recruiting success.

I could lose Ash and not lose any sleep. +1. Right now you can't believe anything, it's all rumors and propaganda. And they will all stay until after the RB. Barry made that clear in his presser.

Re: Ash to Arkansas it seems
Stickland recruits Wisconsin, that is why he is linked to so many key recruits. Whoever recruits the state will be linked to a number of key recruits. That said I think a number of coaches on the staff could recruit the state well. To answer what the other former GA has contributed, how about stabalizing the offensive line. Which is pretty important to a UW team. NewerBreed wrote: Strickland has been involved in some of our top recruits, I am not sure the other former GA has any contributed anything yet.

Re: Ash to Arkansas it seems
Yes Ben does. His Brookfield connection and an understanding of the state HS scene make him a good choice for that position. The other poster made a point regarding consideration for assistants that made contribution to this year's recruiting effort. Miller being included and Ben Strickland being an afterthought doesn't follow. Contributed to recruiting. We don't actively recruit New Mexico. wiscspfan wrote: Stickland recruits Wisconsin, that is why he is linked to so many key recruits.
