When Margaret Thatcher Came to North Carolina

Margaret Thatcher came to North Carolina on April 26, 1995.  She came to Elon College to
dedicate Moseley Hall, a beautiful new edifice on campus,  My spouse and I went to hear Thatcher, whom I consider to be the greatest lady of the 20th century. This lady, earned the name "Iron Lady".
She was undaunted courage personified. She was the first and only lady Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
She got the UK off its back, restored it's pride and economy and was instrumental in retaking the Falkland Islands from Argentine attack. Liberals hated this woman.  Their hate was visceral, and to pour salt on their wounds, when Thatcher came to Elon, Jesse Helms was behind the invitation.  He sat on-stage with Thatcher and  introduced her. Libs and Dems went ballistic, but they could not detract from a very sanguine day at Elon.
Later, my Spouse and I visited England and spent the night in Thatcher's home town of origin. We went to the grocery store where Thatcher and her family once lived up stairs. Its still there.  There is a small unobtrusive plaque, denoting that it was the home of Thatcher.  When I saw the hatred and vile that liberals had for Thatcher, it reinforced my own feeling of conservatism. I have never waivered. BTW, if you couldn't spell, or you got careless, and it came to Thatcher's attention, you would be rebuked. I'd give a war bonus if only we could have amongst  our ladies a Margaret Thatcher.
