Posted: 5/31/2011 9:18 AM

Democrat's Playbook regarding our debt

1. pretend to be concerned about the debt crisis
2. talk about it without making any real proposals to solve the problem.
3. whenever Republican's make proposals, talk about grandma out in the cold and autistic children
4. rinse and repeat

I'm paying six-figures in federal income taxes, and that's plenty already in my opinion. Cut the foolish spending and quit the dependancy on government that your party has created. I would gladly give away the mortgage interest deduction or other unnecessary stuff if the government really got serious about reducing spending.

The best part about the debt crisis is how both sides try to blame each other for the debt crisis, both sides claim a desire to fix it, yet neither will because they only want to cut what the other party likes and refuse to give up their homemade pork sandwiches.

You don't pay enough.  Bush lowered taxes below the baseline level that can sustain a world superpower, and returning them to Clinton-era levels is a fiscal imperative, regardless of a reduction in spending.  Real talk.

(And yes, I'm discussing my own bracket as well.)

Exactly.  I find the pub vs. dem debt argument both funny and sad.  We are truly hosed.

Obamah today pledged several billion of money we do not have to bailout Greece.  This person is hell bent on the  complete destruction of the economy.  I believe that his moves are deliberate as opposed to mere abysmal
ignorance.  He sees some gain for himself in this  move.  What you see is what you get., Geraldine.

Greece is an EU problem. Really stupid as we don't need to prop them up - they need to really take their medicine and suffer through this, as opposed to trying to let them off the hook

I see Obama is going to present a jobs creation plan in September now that his rating has dropped below 40%.  Not a moment too soon.  Sometimes I actually forget that he is our president, he has been so irrelevant.

Politicians do not care about you or your problems. When will people realize this?

Can we all agree on one thing:  We cannot solve the problem by borrowing more money and increasing the debt  limit.   This is not a matter or "equal guilt" so nicely spread.  This has to do with the policy of this administration. The national debt is the highest its ever been.  The per person share , if divided, is already staggering. Strong medicine is called for.  Stop the "green industry" give away.

A destructive pipe dream, well documented by recent events.

How about we shrink the military industrial complex that compels us to go to war every few years. How about we take off the breaks given via capital gains that is being used in the creation of intangible profits via derivatives and such from hedge funds and their cohorts, rather than fueling real investments. How about wealthy corporations start thinking about patrotism like chinese an d japanese company rather than being solely concerned or focused on profit maximization even if it's not in your home country's interest.

Fact ismarginal tax rates are the lowest if been in several decades.

RE: Democrat's Playbook regarding our debt

If only soaking the rich and ending wars would solve our problems....

The rich aren't that wealthy, the wars aren't that expensive especially if you consider the jobs and impact to the economy.  Entitlements is were the real money is.  We can debate on where to cut but anyone who thinks we don't have to cut borrowing and spending is just grossly misunderstanding the scale of our collective indebtedness.

As for the politicians, for the most part they all suck, all parties.  The brilliance of a 'democracy' is the people rule, the down fall of our 'democracy' is the people rule.

Most western countries are like a family with the kids making the decisions.  Its all xboxes, soda and pizza.  No one has been making adult, long term decisions.  The kids want what they want....

RE: Democrat's Playbook regarding our debt

Who was (is) in command when most of the spending was incurred ?   The debt  accumulated in the Obama adm, exceeds the entire nation debt since 1789.   Check it out.  That is inclusive of  a civil war and two world wars.  Obamah has never vetoed a spending bill.  Equal fault sounds nice and equitable..apportioned blame, but it's not true.  Not to say the pubs have  been heroes.  Oh yeah, I forgot, Obama has nixed the pipeline,,,for environmental reasons. It was going to be built with private money anyway.
