Your favorite soup
This mini cold snap has me thinking: what is your favorite soup?
Ground beef chili has to be my all-time favorite homemade soup. As for canned soups, the Progresso minestrone (regular, and not that low-sodium crap) is pretty good. The little round oyster crackers greatly enhance the soup-eating experience for me too.

MmeDeac wrote: Tomato or Vegetable Yes, I often like to keep it simple. I'm friends with an okra farmer, and for months I didn't know what to do with all the okra he gave me. Then my mom told me to slice it up in tomato juice, add a couple cans of stewed tomatos, and add a couple bags of Veg-All frozen vegetables. I also spice it up with some basil and hot salsa. Now I have a freezer full of vegatable soup whenever I want. Or, if we ever have leftover hamburgers or chicken/turkey, we have beef or chicken soup the next day.

RE: Your favorite soup
If the fall starts early enough, a corn chowder made with fresh corn off the cob. Probably worse for me than the potato, but when the corn is in season it's worth it.

Re: Your favorite soup
We had some delicious Alaskan king crab and corn chowder from Costco tonight! Just about as good as what Diamondback Grille makes! Recommend!

Peanut Soup - don't knock it until you try it. Virginia Diner on US 460 in Wakefield, VA is a good place to try it. Ditto the Hotel Roanoke.

Had some crab, scallop, potato, corn chowder at the Deacon Tower Grille about a month ago. Easily the best soup I've ever eaten!

My wife's chicken and rice soup is hard to beat. Add one of her toasted home made pimento cheese sandwiches, you've got a real gourmet meal!

I like some goulashes and rabbit stew recipes from my grandma (from poland), and I like squash soup a lot.
