Buzz-In - victory celebration thread. GO DEACS

Congrats on the victory to the few buzz-in posters on this board. Feels so good for that crowd to get to enjoy this 3 game winning streak.
I can only imagine it how it must suck to be some who let blah2 ruin that for them......
Nice Job Deacs. Great coaching Buzz and staff.
PROUD TO BE A DEAC.

Kudos to our players! They managed to bring home the win in spite of Buzz.

BuzzOUT! Till he's gone...

He beat a team at home that lost to Wofford.  Let's meet back in 30 days and see if we still feel the same way. Syncronize watches and....GO.

He didn't beat the team that lost to Wofford, the Deacs did. And, they beat a team that beat Butler ... who beat UNC.

Not BzIn, but really happy for the Deacs. You can tell that this win meant a lot from their comments. You can also tell that they learned from the Seton Hall game and didn't want to see that repeated. They should have two good wins on their resume, but only have one ... but they have one.

The season is about to get a lot harder. And, just in time, the ACC is getting a lot worse. Dook, UNC, NCSU ... they'll probably sweep the Deacs. MD, GT, The U, FSU ... maybe sweep, too. But there are wins to be had in the conference this year. I'm glad the guys got a taste of victory and got to hold a trophy. Hopefully that will provide some internal motivation to repeat that feeling a few more times this season.

Go Deacs!

Xavier's RPI is 89.  Repeat with me - 89.

We still have not beaten a team in top 70 under Bzz if I'm not mistaken.

Let's chew on that for a few mins.

It's obvious that the guys are working hard and improving. I'll applaud their effort and join with them in celebrating a win.

The Deacs did then.  I am as happy as anyone that we won last night, it was nice to listen to Stan get excited on the radio.

BTW, transitive properties do not hold up in college basketball.

Transitive properties don't apply anywhere but in math (who brought up Wofford, anyway?).  But it's always appropriate to take a shot at UNC.  Stay with me, grasshopper.

A win is a win, but I think it is a testament to how far we have fallen as a program that a win against Xavier (ranked #89) is considered something to write home about. I mean really, Congrats Wellman, it only took a couple years but you have managed to destroy Wake basketball to the point that we will be happy with anything.

RE: Buzz-In - victory celebration thread. GO DEACS

Ha! The person who points out X lost to Wofford, is the same person claiming transitive properties don't apply when someone mentions X also beat Butler. That's the kind of blind hatred of Bz that makes some of our fan base completely irrational.

People claim they want to at least see signs of improvement, then they refuse to acknowledge it when it happens.

Fans say we haven't beaten a team in the top 100 rpi. We beat a team that's 89 and then the same people say we haven't beaten a team in the top 70. When we beat a team in the top 70, they will claim we haven't beaten anyone in the top 40. And the beat goes on.

There's nothing wrong with setting high expectations for this program. We should! But there's also nothing wrong with acknowledging or even enjoying (gasp!) signs of improvement and progress.

Re: Buzz-In - victory celebration thread. GO DEACS

No one ever used top 100 as pretty sure Bzz has a couple of those over the 2 years to keep you blind grasshoppers seeing "improvement" in the team.

The sad fact is we don't have top 70 wins with Bzzz and you are absolutely correct we should be beating top 40 teams.  DO YOU EVEN HEAR YOURSELF????!!!!  As if beating a top 40 team would be some monumental feat!  This is a program that  regularly had wins vs. top 25-40 and should expect to win against top 20-30 teams if not be ranked itself and except for maybe 2-3 years over a 30 year span we were in the top half of the ACC and always going to the postseason.  Now that is nothing more than a pipedream and we are the bottom feeders and hoping for CBI @ best!!!

I'm hoping to see improvement in ACC play BUT let's not have a Buzz-In celebration thread over a #89 X team.  Anyone with any sense would be Buzz-wait&see, at best, with what we have shown on the court.

The talent is there and there is NO reason we shouldn't be able to win vs. a top 50 teams @ home if they had any coaching.

RE: Buzz-In - victory celebration thread. GO DEACS

Of course I hear myself. I'm being very rational and at least acknowledging that I see improvement even though I'm not sure if Bz can lead us back to where we should be.

I used the RPI argument as a way to show how some will never be satisfied no matter what we do as a program under Bz. It was rhetorical in nature. I thought people would get that, given my last statement in the post.

I'm not throwing any celebrations over the win. I'm just acknowledging that it was a step in the right direction and that improvement in our players as individuals and as a team is evident and obvious. Admitting that doesn't label someone Bz-In or even satisfied with our current state.

Xavier is 100 in the Ken Pom rankings today because of losing to us so....do you count W that as a W over a top 100 team or not?  I'd say their entire body of work is not top-100...just saying.

Acknowledging some progress is good.  Having a victory celebration thread is....bizarre and very very sad.  I can't believe how VVLOWF we've become.

RE: Buzz-In - victory celebration thread. GO DEACS

Please read my last post, pourman. I didn't start the thread and only posted when I saw some irrational comments that refused to acknowledge anything positive. Again, the RPI example was meant to prove a point. And of course we shouldn't celebrate over the victory. But we should be pleased that the team is improving. We'll celebrate when we climb back into the top 25 polls, whenever that happens.

Realistically, we should already be back in the Top 25 Polls in year 3 of any coach's regime-  Gottfried did it at Woof U in his first year!

What is realistic about some arbitrary measure that says after the 2 years we've been through any coach would have us in the top 25?

We need to improve and rapidly or I imagine we'll get to see what the next coach can do in 3 years.  But I had to laugh at comparing the situation Bz inherited to what Gottfried inherited.

Ok great lets do it. And in 30 days if we bust then oh well I have nothing to lose but If we succeed what will all of you do cause getting back on the wagon then is not gonna be an option. The buzz outers will have to wear the scarlet letter.....

The first 2 years Dino had to deal with weren't exactly glitter and unicorns, and he didn't run players off creating even worse problems....and was #1.  Do we no longer have standards other than the mythical "culture" ruse?  And what was realistic about that even greater arbitrary measure?

Buzz did run off players at Colorado as well lets not forget that, he is defiantly a man that is "It's my way or the highway" type of coach!
