Remember when we used to recruit guys like this for B-Ball.....

Aminu lands in dog house?: Hornets forward Al-Farouq Aminu was replaced in the starting lineup by Xavier Henryduring Friday's contest against the Grizzlies. Aminu, who had started in all of New Orleans' previous 17 games, earned a DNP-coach's decision in the 96-89 defeat. “We have to keep tweaking and showing our guys that this is a privilege to play in this league. We want guys [who] are going to play with a passion,"

As a competitive person I understand our fans and their anger toward the basketball team. All of us have every right to an opinion but say what you want I will take this years group of freshman Buzz's first true group of freshman (most though would say last year) over all those over hyped players we were bringing in a few years back when the program was headed on a downward spiral.
Give me guys like Tree Owens, Derick Hicks, Rusty LaRue,Mark Blucus, etc... and Ill show you a easy team to pull for or give us guys like afa, etc... and Ill show you a program that winds up in the trash and now has no one left from then to take the blame so it all falls on a former NBA coach who was sent to clean up the mess.
I cant wait to hear all the flack from this as I flamed off subject but my whole point was to show that even the NBA see's what many Wake fans complained about the short stint he/those group was here.

No flack from me good buddy, I totally agree. I still don't think a lot of people realize our far in the toilet our program had fallen. Want more proof, look at the guys that transferred out. Same bad attitudes and not exactly setting the world on fire are they. I'm still pulling for Bzz almost as bad because of the over the top name calling and vitrol directed at him as I am for success in Wake hoops. I have been a Bzz wait and see because I simply think every new coach deserves 3 years to establish is program. If aren't there after this year I'll gladly join the Bzz out crowd but will do so without the rancor some are now exhibibiting.

Whatever helps you feel better about our current situation I guess. Farouq was extremely productive at Wake. Would kill to have someone like him.

I could give you 20 more names that fall into that category of easy to pull for who were recruited by Odom and Tacy, and even Staak. I would rather lose every game than to have some of the characters we had the last 4 or 5 years.

What did he do? Aminu always seemed like a good kid to me. He had that incident in HS after he committed, but as I recall he had a strong family and both he and his brother were pretty bright.

Maybe losing in N.O. has made him surly. It certainly worked around here. :)

Do you consider Aminu a character?

Bzzz would give his back teeth to land a player like Aminu.

Heck, I would throw in a couple of my own. Especially if I can just give the back ones.
I'd give a couple front teeth for a CP3 or Timmy.
Randolph...you can have them all plus the organ of your choosing.

So we have stooped to bashing our own former players to prop up Coach Bzdelik? Really?

I'll take the 2008-2009 team that lost to Cleveland State and play the this year's team. What do you think the score would be?

Sig, I find it curious that you dedicate so many of your posts over here to being the moral police, yet I don't recall that you do that over on TOOS. Any reason for that?

Edited to clarify, I don't see any reason to bash Aminu (disagree with it, actually). I am grateful he chose Wake.

We were in a downward spiral at 16-0?

I also remember being ranked # 1 in the country?

Re: Remember when we used to recruit guys like this for

16-0 and #1 in the country. Yep, we had some really good players back then. But, I wouldn't turn my back on several of them. Those were some good teams but Odom and Tacy did a lot more way back with less overall talent. Face it, Gaudio was not a good coach and there were tons of problems behind the scenes that about killed the program. Now, Gaudio was a good assistant and a good recruiter and as long as Prosser was around, they were a good duo. But 16-0 does not mean much when you can't win in the post season!

We've got problems today but we are on the way back! We will probably have a different coach in the next year or two but with the guys on the team now, our future looks better than it has in some time.

No, it doesn't. The talent we have right now has a ceiling as a bubble team.

But keep buying the culture change nonsense.  We have a new culture alright.

I don't disagree but do know we are better off today than the last 5 years. We've had some better talent in those years but results and coaching were poor. At least now, we have guys who want to play and with good coaching, can provide a good base to build on. Good coaching will be the key!

Skip could handle players and their problems, Dino and Buzz not so well.

Thats delusional. The current state of our program is national laughingstock.  To say that our program is in better shape than when we were a tourney team is just ridiculous.

Love the heart of this team but Wake was badly outcoached tonight.  As I said in a different thread you can't have the ball in Jones hands at te end of the game when you know they are going to foul.  Chase also had no business being in there.  He is a shooter. Period.  When he's not hitting he gives you nothing and tonight he was not hitting.  Also, Rountree played only about 18 minutes.  Not sure why.  I'll always love the Deacs but I have no love for Buzz.

Sure, we were a tourney team...that lost early each year. I thought the world of Prosser but neither Prosser or Gaudio did much in the postseason. Once again, we have had better talent in the past but the heart and drive of this team far surpasses teams of the last few years. Coaching...a whole different issue!

Well, we certainly don't have to worry about losing in the tourney when we can't finish in the top 200.

Heart and drive? Whatever.
