Being a fan is about what's best for the team. If you can't see that there is legitimate debate about what result is truly best for the team, then you're not very perceptive.

Losing tonight does not speed up Bz's departure, nor does it assure his departure.  Winning tonight does not guarantee he will be here next year.  But winning the game is why the game is played.  It's what you root for as a fan -- not losing.  Never losing.

If the team continued to win ... improbably won out and were ACC champs ... would that be a bad thing?  Would they have won so much that they doomed themselves?  What if they only won enough to get better?  Is that also doom?  If this hated coach somehow found success, would that not be success?

I don't think that Coach Bz is necessarily the right guy to guide the program.  But, I am convinced that those who are rooting for the Deacs to lose are more concerned about their own sense of right/wrong than what is good for the team/school/players.

I think you are correct.  I also think that a strange sickness/insanity has infected many on the other board.

The other board is heavily populated with 8th graders who are excited by using the word **** in a public setting.

The other board has approximately 1700 users online right now. This board has around 200. I think there are a few more good reasons why the vast majority of Wake fans have forsaken this board.

I can no more understand wanting the team to fail because you don't like the coach than I can understand wanting the president to fail because you don't like his politics.

I understand the president part. You think his policies are bad for the country and you hope he is not successful in bringing those policies about. I feel that way.

All the "holier than thou" outrage at someone simply admitting the honest truth about our program is what's sickening.  No True Deacon Fan wants to team to lose.  BUT every smart Deacon Fan knows that the sooner bz is gone the better...if losing games this season hastens his departure so this group of potentially good freshmen players get a better coach and stronger leader, then that's what's good for them.  They deserve a chance to succeed.  All the fans who blindly allow this disaster to go on in the name of school loyalty are the folks who should be chastised.

Sometimes people have to take their medicine to get well.  I'll bet none of our frosh would ever wish to be in CJ's or Travis's shoes after 3 years in the program, but that's where they'll be if Bz stays.  Losing a few games sucks, but being a joke with no chance is worse.  Buzzout no matter how we do it, and for whatever reason makes you feel politically correct.
